Sorry Larry.
P.S. I still don't like you.
States that don’t have income tax continue to win companies.
What’s the health care provider? It isn’t kaiser.
Can’t go wrong with Tennessee.
Nashville is a place where healthcare money is spent.
If you’re talking about actually making medical products to export you’re talking about New Jersey, North Carolina, Jacksonville, Memphis, Fort Wayne, Minneapolis, Arizona, etc.
Those are the places medical products are actually made and aren’t just paper pushing operations.
Don’t get me wrong, Nashville area is great, it’s just not a major hub of medical manufacturing.
“...to be closer to a major health-care epicenter.” Sure. That’s as believable as a politician or company exec saying he is quitting to spend more time with his family.
Ellison said it is a “fabulous place to live, one that Oracle employees are excited about.” Sure they are. Of course, there probably ARE a lot who never had a chance of owning a home in California that are happy to move. But many will find TN way too provincial and not aligned with their political views.
I had not heard this: “Oracle has been developing its new $1.2 billion campus in the city for about three years.” I remember when Oracle built their massive complex at Redwood Shores. Doesn’t seem that long ago.
I assume he would be writing software that is specialized for healthcare. He probably needs a test centre for the products.
Subconsciously I just don’t like the words
“major health-care epicenter”
No idea why
What truth did he speak?
LOL...”epicenter” gives all those ex-Californians the shakes.
I’m so old Nashville means Grand Ole Opry .
…….
Austin didn’t work out? Better TN than going back to CA, that’s for sure.
San Francisco/San Jose isn’t a “major health-care epicenter”?
Everybody they bring from California will go on voting for the same policies and taxes they voted for in California, so it would have been better for Tennessee to tell them to go someplace else.
They can’t buy a home in California because the Ellisons own half of ‘em. I’m only partly joking but I think Ellison owns a couple dozen in Malibu alone. His two children are entertainment moguls of their own and also own multiple properties. And of course Ellison owns nearly the entire Hawaiian island of Lanaii. He bought it from the Dole company for a cool $500 million after they moved their pineapple supply to the Phillipines and didn’t need the land anymore.
More american refugees and companies fleeing to red and southern states to destroy those areas. Migration always destroys.
In about 1 1/2 months we'll see if the gravitational pulls of the sun, moon, etc. from the last 2 eclipse events causes a repeat of the New Madrid earthquake.
If so it will make what Californians have experience so far look like minor little shakes.
Quinn described Ellison as “the most charismatic man she had ever met,” but it seemed that charisma was not enough to pull them through the difficult financial challenges they faced in their marriage. By 1974, Quinn was tired of Ellison’s extravagant spending and his dreams of becoming a millionaire, so she filed for divorce. He would go on to found his own software development company four years later.Adda never once mentioned her years with Ellison and I learned of it quite by accident (or maybe office gossip). She was a great person. But what a life mistake!
Reminds me of Ray Kroc and his first wife, as depicted in "The Founder".
Where is it now?
Oracle’s oil drum shaped buildings have been a signature in the Bay Area since the 90’s.
This is huge!
I moved from a large city to TN two years ago, and tend to agree. Now, I think I'll step out on my porch and listen to the bullfrogs.
