Before we get all high and mighty about low caliber medical care in Mexico and further south, let’s reflect on what DEI and lawfare poaching are doing to US healthcare.
Central America is The USA expat community’s number one choice. There are tons of medical professionals who fled the oppressive US medical system and set up shop in Central America.
They can actually care for people instead of being puppets to the insurance companies and hospital legal staff. They can charge a fair price for their service and keep every penny of it. No third party payer is involved so prices are affordable. All drugs but narcotics are over the counter and much cheaper. A good doctor has a reputation. A bad doctor chooses another profession.
A very bad problem that may require a couple of surgeries, air-evac services, hotel stays for a family member, medications and follow up care, would be in the $10,000 USD range. How much are you paying for premiums, copay and deductible in the States?
There is good care and bad care everywhere in the world. It just depends on how much choice you get and how much money you pay.
