I remember reading something around the time COVID came out about Thomas Jefferson’s regard of a yellow fever outbreak that was taking place. Somebody asked him whether he would support restrictions on Americans’ liberty to help curb the disease. His answer, basically, was no, and yellow fever is a much more serious disease than COVID in its current forms.
