And I don’t think Waters’ is any great fan of the Jews, for whatever that is worth.
I wonder if “The Jews” would be a good band name.
The Dirty Mac
Gilmour begged Roger for PF to do Pros and Cons, instead of The Final Cut. But Roger was so upset at Thatcher for The Falklands that it won out.
And that was the end of Pink Floyd with Roger.
Always wondered if that was meant as a slam on Paul. Anyway, it's a shame they didn't do more together.
Have you seen the movie from Rock and Roll Circus? It’s entertaining. Great acts. I think the Rolling Stones were on acid or something.
Mac = jacket in British.
The dirty mac. Interesting. It could have been a slam on Paul. I’m sure you are acutely aware of the dueling solo albums Ram and “How do you sleep” etc. And of course the “rivalry” between The Stones and Beatles.
Of course the best dis track imo was “No Vasoline” by Ice Cube. I’m not a huge hip hop fan but Cube lays it bare against his former bandmates.
Yes, I know, but still, I can’t think it was a coincidence, since I think that was when Paul and John were on the outs.
Aha! Thanks for the vocab expansion! Still doesn’t rule out a double entendre though.
Of course, The Who blew them all away with “A Quick One While He’s Away”.

This is why The Who at their peak was the greatest band ever.
Nowhere near as good as Sly & the Family Stone. Unfortunately, they weren’t working very long.
I also learned from Rock and Roll Circus, that Tommy Iommi was briefly a member of Jethro Tull.
Live at Leeds is one of my favorite all time.
He didn’t get credit for it but I always thought John Entwhistle wrote A Quick One While He’s Away.
One Sly and the Family Stone story is that he broke up with his old lady, and paraded a whole host of paramours into the studio to record the female vocals of “It’s a Family Affair” so much so that they wore out the tape re-recording over the previous paramour. Every time I hear that song I listen for the flaws in the tape.
I never made that connection. I have a good old friend who swears that Sweat Leaf is the greatest love song of all time. He’s only half jesting.
Tommy’s comments
“I learned quite a lot from [Anderson], I must say,” Iommi said. “I learned that you have got to work at it. You have to rehearse. When I came back and I got the [Earth] back together, I made sure everybody was up early in the morning and rehearsing. I used to go and pick them up. I was the only one at the time that could drive. I used to have to drive the bloody van and get them up at quarter to nine every morning; which was, believe me, early for us then. I said to them, ‘This is how we have got to do it because this is how Jethro Tull did it’.”
He’s right. As the Coen brothers said in several of their films “it’s not all fun and games”. I only recently saw a Rush documentary on Netflix - Lord knows what took me so long to watch it. But one of their first major tours they opened for KISS and Gene Simmons said “we had all these women, booze drugs and these 3 guys just went to their rooms after the show and read books at night”.
KISS were not my flavor either, but they were no slouches when it came to work ethic either.
Yes, but Lennon was a master of the double entendre.
Ask the english girls who were passed around like sex toys at a nympho convention by muslims if they think Powell was right
And where was he wrong?
