Here is a pic of what was found. Looks human to me.

Not only does it look human, but there may be enough for dental record comparison.

"Experts first will establish whether the bone is human before comparing its DNA to that of Holloway, said Netherlands Forensic Institute spokeswoman Inge Oevering."

Well, if that is the actual photo of what was found then dental records will settle the issue.

They can extract DNA from tooth pulp, as well. I suspect in this case they will try every scientific trick in the book.

Here is today's image from the 24ora site. The article is written in the local language and is difficult to translate.

Looks like it came from an old person - not a young female!

Only a guess and I am not an expert - but I’d say not her. To me the teeth appear too worn down for a person of her age at the time of her disappearance. I’d say this was a much older person.

Well I guess we know what Greta will be focusing on this evening... and tomorrow and the day after and the day after that etc.

Yeah, it does look more like an older person’s teeth. The thing is, that does belong to someone.

Looks human enough to me. One tooth can provide sufficient DNA for a positive/negative match with her mother.

I don’t know about that. He seems to be adjusting just fine in his new digs. Someone is bringing him special food and clothes, he has done an interview and got paid for it. I think in Castro Castro money talks. I really don’t think that guy is too worried....yet.

PhotobucketI tend to agree with you. Natalee had a beautiful smile.

The abrasive activity of the sand can easily explain that. look, instead, to the intact nature of the teeth. All are in place, aligned and, if they have been treated for cavities, have been done so with the more modern fillings instead of the old amalgam fillings. If there are no fillings then it is an indication that the person was immune to tooth decay (a rare condition, but if that is the case and Natalie was one of them, then this is a strong indicator of identification).

These are the teeth of a younger person who either had a very nice smile, or had their smile adjusted by braces. And, a person who exercised good oral hygiene.

Missing the right wisdom tooth, and looks like no fillings. The person had nice teeth, but the jaw bone is really dissolved away. If had had to wild guess I’d guess that’s a jaw from a century or longer ago.

Do you think it is possible for it to look this way if it had been in salt water or buried in a sandy area for 5 years? I’m not sure what affect those conditions would have on the jawbone.

I’m not an expert either, but I wonder if they were worn down by exposure to wind blown sand or being churned in the surf for years. They are exceptionally straight and healthy looking teeth, more typical of a young affluent American than someone growing up in the Carribean.
