"Exactly where is the carbon going to come from with heavy water and palladium?" Speculating somewhat wildly here, but:
Neodymium (NdFeB) MAGNETS
Neodymium permanent magnets (Nd-Fe-B) are composed of neodymium, iron, boron and a few transition metals. These magnets are extremely strong for their small size, metallic in appearance and found in simple shapes such as rings, blocks and discs.
Since each triple-track is the evidence of the trinary disintegration of a single atom, it wouldn't take much in the way of "contamination" by the boron atoms into the heavy water to provide an opportunity for Hydrogen plus Boron yields Carbon, which immediately explodes into three Helium ions (alpha particles).
So even if there is NO source of carbon, there is a potential for a boron source.
Of course, how a few meandering boron atoms could get themselves lined up in the cross-hairs of a really fast moving proton is yet another excellent question.
By the way, I'm not insisting on the presence of a disintegrating carbon atom, I'm just not familiar with the nuclear event that triggers the expulsion of three neutrons, but I had heard of the proton/boron reaction.
Also, even if we are (or they are) only observing a spontaneous neutron cascade, that's a bit of an interesting phenomenon itself ...

"They had the first pop-up toaster Id ever seen. It scared the liver out of me when the toast popped up.
What a mess...." Was it your aunt or your uncle who put your liver back in?

The aforementioned Amityville toaster is found
hereLanguage warning for those who need such warnings.
Foamy Squirrel is NOT a nutritious part of any breakfast, ever.
Contains no sweeteners, artificial or otherwise.
Contains no vitamins or nutrients.
Contains.. stuff.

That was so weird, even with the sound off.
I may have to watch a Taylor Swift video to clear my buffers.

Housecats would ignore us less if they were larger, or we were smaller.
I’ll take the ignoring, thanks.

Excellent point. Would Shannon be content with a bowl of dry cat-nibble, if she were bigger than any of us? I don’t think so ...

Sorry about that.
But the talk of toasters and such brought that to mind.

Oops! I had to leave for a doctor appointment.
He’s actually going to sign my papers and give me a letter, so I can (hopefully) get some of my money back, and move into a bigger apartment.
I gave him 30 days, so we’ll see what shakes out.
I was supposed to get some lab work done, but 20 minutes after the lab was open, the waiting room was full. I just couldn’t wait another couple of hours to come home.

I went to the mall (with Elen, Sally, Pat, and Frank) to look for curtains, but didn’t find any that suited us. We’ll order from the Penney’s catalog.
