Sort of like "Drat!", "Darn!" or "Ouch!" in English.

In high school electronics lab. Vacuum tubes were still around then, and I was soldering a circuit in a chassis. I did a lot of soldering at home those days and inevitably the soldering iron would swing around so the business end was facing me and if I wasn't paying attention I'd pick it up by the business end.
SO here I am working intently in the lab, nose buried in chassis. I reach over to grab the soldering iron (*huge* by my standards -- this isn't a "pencil iron", you could weld battleships with this monster), pulled up only to feel something pull back, looked over and yup... had it by the business end.
"Oh!" (Set it down carefully.)
(Wait a second and a half.)
"Ow!"
My lab partner couldn't stop laughing.
Yah? Well that was my tyke’s response to ANY injury!! He never cried. All you could get from him was, “Oh! Ow! Otch!” If it was really bad, the “Oh!” was tossed by the wayside and the “Otch!” was given emphasis.
Interesting! I wonder if he turned out differently in other ways? Or maybe a really set of high pain thresholds?
He listens to a different drummer! He feels pain but isn’t incapicated, like a lot of people are.
Lucky him!
He says it’s a state of mind. Still, when he is ill, he is down for the count.
Almost had an "oops" here. Suddenly remembered I have to reserve my hotel room in Strasbourg by Friday, and early tomorrow morning I'm off to the airport. Household printer setup is still messed up, so I e-mailed info to LoM from corporate e-mail account. She speaks (native) French, so she can call the hotel. *\:-)

I still have a whole 5 minutes of packing effort in front of me. THen set the alarm for 4 AM.

Semblance of rest? I’m less than 48 hours from delivery and my powerpoint is nowhere near done.
Unnngh! We had the diaper disasters, we had the piddle, we had the spew, we had the howling gripes. I’m ready for this day to be over. Here’s Shannon being nice - she probably wants to be fed!
