Actually, I'm an avid gun enthusiast. If Hitlery gains power, and implements another ban, people like me will be on the "must raid" list. So yes, Hitlery might get me killed... but then again, so would anti-gun Rudy for passing the same kinds of legislation.
It was not too surprising that the 2000 election was close. The economy was doing well, and Gore was a decent candidate who was Veep in a reasonably popular Administration.
I for one admit I was surprised Kerry did so well. I thought he was a poor candidate with lots of baggage and hopelessly liberal; yet he nearly won without any southern states.
I think in some respect the underlying political trend is more difficult for us than at any point since 1964. Yes, Carter and Clinton won -- but they were southerners who were not particularly liberal. (Remember Bill's "DLC" that was "Centrist"? That's long gone, isn't it?)
After the experiences of the 1990s and 2000s (so far), we can't credibly claim to be the party of fiscal responsibility, can we? Fair or not, and granted there were special factors going on, the federal budget was balanced under Clinton and not under Bush.
We have a lot of work to do to get back to where we were.
Fine Have it your way - you will be in the minority. Cut your noses off to spite your face.
Oh, I will.
Once again, I did not direct that question to you, yet you feel compelled to refute every single word posted.
Affirmative! Go get educated or wait for Hillary to take over your RE-education. She will have lovely and stylish new camps where you'll be taught not to stay home during elections!
Buh Bye, newbie.
Saddam Hussein's Army couldn't stop the US Government, but you are going to stop it with whatever guns you have? I had no idea you were so -- formidable.
If the CSA armed and equipped and trained as an army under Robt. E. Lee couldn't stop the Union from imposing its will on the seceding states -- with 1860's technology -- how are any group of citizens supposed to do so today, Rambo?
Rudy is not going to take away your guns anyway. That's ridiculous.
I sure wish.....someone who could beat Hillary in N.Y. would be great. Haven't made up my mind but seems I think that Romney might be good, just don't know!
I'm sure you would, just kiddin' :-)
This brings up another point that I've been meaning to make. Many of the Rudy supporters here like to bring up how Giuliani is strong on economic issues. That may be true. But right now the economy is doing well. In November of next year the economy will likely be doing well. The economy won't be a huge issue for voters. And if the economy IS doing poorly, while Giuliani may have the right economic ideas, the voters are going to want to take out their frustrations on the Republican candidate since they'll be blaming Bush already. And I caution anyone from crossing their fingers and hoping for a bad economy during the primaries just so that they can see Rudy win the nomination. That would be a very liberal thing to do. Kind of like how Democrats hope for massive war casualties so that they can use it against the Republicans. We conservatives don't do that kind of thing.
So you think the Second Amendment should be interpreted to guarantee a right for passengers to bring loaded guns onto commercial airplanes?
There's a position with "broad appeal" - NOT!!
In other words you will vote for Hillary or some other democrat, or perhaps a third party candidate that can't win, or will you be exercising your right to stay home and not vote at all?
As I said many times; whoever wins the GOP nomination got my vote, even darn McPain-in-the-poopa!
Thank you for admitting that I successfully refuted your point.
If you don't want your points refuted, then don't post them.
The last time I looked, Rudy was in third place behind Hunter and Newt. A bit ahead of Tancredo. The big three social conservatives candidates are getting 65% of FReepers vote. I think Freepers know who is the best choice of candidates for them, and its not America's Mayor, Rudy Giuliani.
You may be right, but I think this election is going to be different than what we have seen in the past.
Your imagined self-importance is noted for all to see.
How would a bad economy help Rudy at the expense of McCain and Romney and Gingrich?
Like most people, I need a good economy to keep paying the bills, including my daughter's out-of-state tuition.
You're trying too hard. Stick to sensible points; you are more effective that way.
Right back at you.
