I have to say that Ace did a much better job with this song last year. His voice was stronger, more expression. None of the guys "WOW" me this year.
probably not. nothing ever does.
well, that's a good point. I wonder if they got to trigger happy at the beginning of auditions, cutting some better people, then they screwed themselves and got stuck with a whole lot of mediocre?
Is Simon under the impression that he runs the show and is the only opinion that counts?
on E! yesterday (or one of those shows) they showed five different clips of Simon praising her...the sixth clip he said she was awful and in fact was....
Bad idea. What's wrong with them this year?
Well, hopefully, it's 2 leftover guys and they kick them both off. Because you know whoever they are, they totally stink.
Personally, I wish they would change it to vote for whoever you want kicked off. That would make it soooo much easier.
I saw one show with six different clips that that showed Simon praising her to the sky for five different songs....and the only bad one was what you saw - and in fact, if you saw the clip of her performance you'd have to agree that simon was dead on. I like her and I liked her performances on AI but that was one time I really did agree with Simon....As someone else said, simon was pushing Fantasia from day one that entire season....
Seriously. Always trying to "improve" something that's fine the way it is. Remember the "new" Coke? Seems like they would figure it out. They never do.
And Pepsi Clear?
I was watching last nights E! News this morning and they had a short thing about Taylor getting ready for his tour. They repeat E! News about 400 times during the day, if you get a chance to catch it. It's about halfway through.
What would probably happen then is all the 12 year olds would gang up & vote the really good ones off so people like pretty pony & The Skank could stay on.
LOL! That stuff was brutal.
It goes against what they really want -- those who vote FOR a contestant rabidly are likely to buy that contestant's album; those who vote AGAINST other contestants aren't necessarily going to buy anything.
If he feels that way...it may be because it is true.
I think Paula and Randy could be replaced...but not Simon.
I also think Ryan is almost up there with Simon...I think Ryan is funny, and very quick.
Plus AT&T wouldn't rack up the text messaging fees. Last season my husband and I were burning up the lines for anyone who wasn't McPhee. LOL
Meaning no disrespect to you, BamaDi, but why is it necessary to have a pissing contest over who won what awards and who's gonna sell more, and so on? For all you know, Chris Daughtry will outsell both of them eventually. And some future Idol alumnus will outsell him.
Who cares? Can't those of us who are fans of the show just be happy for all the former AI contestants who have gone on to success in some form? How is it possible to say this kind of success is better than that kind of success?
Diana DeGarmo will probably never sell many CD's, but she's one of Broadway's brightest young stars. Jennifer Hudson's Oscar may have back-doored her into a recording career that was going nowhere until she got the Dreamgirls role. Josh Gracin honorably finished his military career, moved his family to Nashville, and pursued his music career on his own, without any Idol contract and machinery to help him. He's doing it the old fashioned way, through hard work and "paying his dues." Are we supposed to somehow look down on these achievements because none of these people have sold millions of CD's? I think not.
As for what Simon Cowell says, he's often wrong. Last weekend, I watched American Idol Rewind's episode of the first of the top 10 shows. (The first season they went from the round of 30 down to a top 10 instead of a top 12.) Anyway, Tamyra Gray was the hot favorite of the judges, and when she performed in that episode, Simon predicted she would win the contest and become a big star. We all know what happened.
Oh, and one final thing to consider when you're comparing apples to oranges...Kelly Clarkson's 'Breakaway' has sold somewhere over 12,000,000 worldwide. When she tours, she draws huge crowds wherever she goes. She's huge in Great Britain, continental Europe, Australia, Canada, and even went to Iraq to entertain our troops there. She's had more #1 and top 10 hits both domestically and abroad since 2003 than any other artist period. Not just any AI alumnus. So far she is the only former AI contestant to become an international superstar. She's won the equivalent of Grammys in several other countries. Will she be the only AI alumnus to realize success internationally? Probably not. But for now she is the only one.
Another theory has it that all the top AI alumni are going to come back and appear together. Personally, I think it has something to do with Jennifer Hudson.
Personally, I am getting a little Jennifer Hudson-ed out. Yesterday was Jennifer Hudson Day in Chicago.
Off the subject, but I'm getting Obama'd out. Living in IL right now is all Obama, all the time. It's enough to make me pull my hair out. It's gonna be a looooong way to '08.
