Actually the prebate is very helpful to most taxpayers. For the very low earners it pays the taxes on all of their purchases and for those a bit higher if reduces their taxes paid by reducing their effective tax rate.
Doing this removes the argument from the liberal pols that the FairTax is regressive since the prebate alleviates that problem. The prebate actually adds very little in the way of red tape since the payments would mostly be done by the SSA via wire transfer as the government pays many today. It's a very streamlined system.

Sorry scamel - everything in that post is true as to the many disadvantages of any flat tax ... and you know it (but of course won't admit it). Let's not forget that the present tax system started life as a "flat-tax".
All of the present flat tax proposals have rates that exceed the FairTax rate in any event - typically 17% as a basic income tax PLUS the 15.3% payroll taxes which totals a lot more at 32.3% that the FairTax at 23% (both systems using ti to compare on a fair base).
So babble on about your "flat tax". I doubt you're attracting throngs of supporters, but perhaps you can tell us how many cosponsors you have on any single flat tax bill (whichever one you think has the most supporters).

I'm sure you don't know it, but there IS no "entitlement system" in the FairTax; therefore it "costs" nothing. The EITC, OTOH IS an entitlement system as are M/C and S/S - and they all cost plenty.

A) So what?
B) No longer true.
D) Only the important ones matter - you're singlehandedly reducing the FT numbers by what must be hundreds a day now...

Did you know that Leo Linbeck is personal, social friends with Crazy Nancy Pelosi? Doesn't surprise me a bit...

Show us the rates and amount paid under the income tax and the rate and amount paid under the FairTax ...
Uh the Fairtax only exists in your mind. It isn't possible to show the amount "paid" under THE Fairtax.
It isn't the amount paid it's what you pay it on...like a new tax on government payrolls or purchases does not increase your purchasing power.
Paying 30% tax on interest earned or paid does not increase your purchasing power.
Buying used crap to avoid the exorbitant tax does not increase your purchasing power.
Paying 30% more for anything imported does not increase your purchasing power.
The hidden employer half of FICA in the sales tax does not increase your purchasing power.
Paying tax on tax does not increase your purchasing power.

True enough, but they have been wise enough to eliminate the income taxes on citizens which is far more that the Federal government has seen fit to do yet.
Once the FairTax becomes law as the country's tax system I've no doubt you'll see several states conform to the FairTax bill and see the things you mention become reality - and be greatly favored by the taxpayers.
BTW, the answers are yes to several of the questions you pose as the states do presently pay federal taxes on the wages paid to their employees so being Federally taxed hardly new.

Wire taransfers, Robbie, can be done by the hundresds of thousands (or even millions) in a short time period - so they are very efficient.

That's probably a good way to hide the sneers of contemp you feel for each of your "customers".
