Personally, I do not feel that Vice President Cheney owes anyone an apology other than the man he accidentally shot with Birdshot. Yet, I keep hearing these media types referring to it as buckshot. If had been buckshot, the guy would probably be dead.

Good input. I bet that Whittington takes responsibility, before this is all over.

And I would say you were just as entitled to your opinion as I am to mine. The difference being I did not find it necessary to demean your position. I have no problem with differing opinions, but just prefer polite responses as opposed to lectures.

Personally, I do not feel that Vice President Cheney owes anyone an apologyNo, YOU are apologizing for his actions by saying that, well, Ted killed someone.
I don't think Cheney should resign for this. I do think it doesn't reflect well on his sense of caution to hunt in the manner that injured someone.
But waiting that long to issue a press release meant someone was asleep in his press relations department.

Good point. I never thought of that. It was much better for the GOP to leave Clinton in office.

I wish these reporters were half as avid in their hunt for the leaker to the NYT of NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE.

"They must vacumn out all the contents of their heads in journalism "school."
That starts in preschool. By the time therse idiots get to journalism school, their brains have been drained and gassed back up with pure leftist drivel.

If I were the family, I would appreciate the 22 hours to get myself together. All I'm saying is that the press is brutal. They will be camped out in front of this guys house in big trucks and trampling his begonias. Giving me a day to pull myself together after the shock, get my family prepared for the onslaught and put on my game face would be a very welcome.
Look, there is no doubt that the VP screwed up. That is the definition of how accidents happen. Inattention combined with sloppiness. But it was still an accident, no more, no less. To get one's knickers all twisted because we don't know soon enough is just silly. Why? Because frankly, it's not about us. And it most certainly is not about the press.

It really was stupid to wait that long. I can't think of any justification.

Prior to their becoming news readers, I am convinced that the TV bimbets only partied and entered beauty contests while in college.

Any truth to the rumor that the VP has invited Helen Thomas to go hunting with him for background?

Oh yeah ... instead of keeping it in the more lighthearted "accident" vein which it was, now they've gotten their marching orders that this MUST be added to the list of Rat attacks ... that they pray will galvanize the country to beg Congress to impeach Bush and then the MSM can regain their lost power.
Now, it's all deadly serious .. Cheney = "the shooter" .. and the time spent assuring Whittington and probably Cheney himself were stable .. now that's "a cover-up," and Cheney's a reckless, unlicensed gun fanatic. I hope the NRA also jumps in with a rational position that explains the occasional hunting accident to the clearheaded public.

That's part of it; it's just that they weren't taught like we were; I know that sounds whiney, but they don't get in depth history lessons, or science lessons; they don't know anything.
There's just no depth to them.
