Yes, I have never seen a more even-tempered, polite, and mild-mannered freeper as you. :)

You're talking about a different subject. If you have any respect for science, and particularly statistics, you would do well to read the text that I mentioned. It has nothing to do with the fortune teller book from ten years ago.

It may be the trolls' game plan. It most certainly is. We've had a number of provocateurs who would mercilessly bait us, and when someone finally made an intemperate response -- whammo! -- the abuse button got pushed. Several of the bad guys got banned, but we lost a few also. The tactic is still very much in use. That's why "Virtual Ignore" is my guiding principle in dealing with them. You can smell a troll a mile away, and when you do, ignore him.

I am aware that it isn't the original *bible code* book that purported to foresee the future and link the Bible with world events like WWII and so on. That doesn't make my opinion of Bible codes any better. Look, let's just drop the whole thing and pretend we never spoke on this thread. It'll be better for both of us. :)

You know, I never before considered this game of baiting people, tho mind you, several times I have felt baited, and often I felt that my response was a bit bad, and it was at those times I thought I might wind up being suspended, tho it never did happen...so I will take your tagline more to heart in the future, and hopefully just ignore those who I feel are doing the baiting...'Virtual Ignore', is indeed fine advice...
To: CarolinaGuitarman
I could use a little pulling back from here as it is; I'm spending too much time debating people who usually won't even listen to my arguments anyway.
However, you've provided an invaluable service to the lurkers. And I;ve enjoyed reading many of your responses. I think you've got more self control than I have. If I wrote what I thought, I'd have been banned long ago.

'Virtual Ignore', is indeed fine advice... Some websites have a feature in their software that lets you make a list of posters you want to "Ignore." Then you never see their posts. It's great for avoiding flame wars. It's been promised for this website, but I've been waiting a few years now and it hasn't been implemented. So I pretend that I've got the feature. Thus "virtual" ignore will have to suffice, until we've got the real thing.

You're doing the apples and oranges game now. First you claim science can't verifyit, and then when I point out that science, pure science, has indeed verified it you jump to a faith defense.
Which is it?

I am not sure that I would actually use an 'Ignore' feature...call it ghoulish, but I actually 'enjoy' reading some of those really nasty posts...not 'enjoy' in the sense of having a good time, but rather 'enjoy', in the sense that I like gathering useful information....those types of posts gives me a lot of information about the workings of certains posters minds...I guess, for me, I am one of those who gawks at accidents, and also 'enjoys' reading foul posts...

All the dating methods yield essentially the same results too; at least in cases where more than one can be used.

I still let myself get baited far too much. I'm actually pretty easy going offline. It's hard to tell sometimes. lol The main thing is, the more I think about it, the more I realize that the best way to win these debates is to be calm and rational. Regardless of how much we get baited. In it's own way, staying completely calm will be the most frustrating and annoying thing we could do to the other side anyway. :)
