LOL! That's beautiful, Dr. E!
Brilliant.
No, you only dislike scientific conclusions that upset your religious preconceptions. I'm quite sure that you are happy to select from those scientific conclusions that don't upset you emotionally and aver that "you love science". -- Thatcherite
You know what the funniest part of the above exchange is to me, Dr. Eckleburg?
The funny thing to me is, "jwalsh07" is not now, nor has ever been, a member of "our little group" of Hyper-Fundamentalist Calvinists.
A Christian, yes. Libertarian-leaning, yes.
But Walsh has never beholden himself to any of the diverse Fundamentalist Factions of the Religion Forum, and in fact has exchanged some hard words with me in the past concerning my "libertarian naivete" -- whether the subject is Abortion, Education, or my isolationist Foreign Policy, I seem to remember that Walsh prefers a sort of "Reaganesque-spirited Realism" to my own idealistic Absolutism.
AND YET... the Evolutionists are so utterly Stalinistic in defense of Evolutionism, as to lump a jaded and pragmatic Conservative like Walsh in with a bright-eyed Young Punk True-Believer like me. And just because he dares to question Evolutionism, at that. He never even proposed Abolishing all Publik Skools; he just asked a question.
Mind you, "jwalsh07" never signed on to our crusade. As far as I know, Walsh has never signed on to any of my Quixotic, rhetorical Internet Crusades.
He asked a question.
And THAT, in and of itself, was enough to make him the Enemy of the Evolutionists.
Personally, I think that's quite revealing... and bloody hilarious.
Al Pacino in THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE: "Vanity is definitely my favorite sin."
I made a mistake, misunderstood Walsh's views, and acknowledged my error. (If I didn't eat humble pie sufficiently then, I'll eat some more now).
Christianity and evolution cannot be harmonized. There is simply no way of doing it. And the stance from evos that the case is otherwise is largely made from a position of ignorance on the subject of Christianity. Most evos know soundbites about Christianity and danged little substance. To the extent that they feel themselves informed, it's because those informing them don't know scripture or don't take it seriously or both. But that's what happens when you seek to prove your case by using people presuming Christianity but not conforming to it. From point number one, evolution is in direct contention with Christian scripture. On every point thereafter, the same problem ocurrs - direct contention. The two are mutually exclusive.
And mutually exclusive things cannot be harmonized.
The attempt at harmonization by the evo crowd isn't an attempt at anything beyond making dissent and critical review go away.
This thread started out with all the class of the old 'pool poopie' threads, and has fulfilled it's promise.

"Christianity and evolution cannot be harmonized. "
Says you.
EVEN IF THAT WERE TRUE, that wouldn't make evolution atheistic, it would just make Christianity wrong.
I have a grip. I simply tried to clarify what appeared very loudly to be a miscommunication between the two or an attempt to obfuscate.
Let's face it, you're a creationist. That means any opinion you have on anything to do with reality is likely to be about 180 degrees away from the truth. That goes for the Mirecki beating as well.
Indeed, that is a blatant lie, but it's not how he began his article. That's your lie.
We have been looking for our designer in all the wrong places. It seems we owe our existence to viruses, the least of semiliving forms, and about the only thing they have in common with any sort of theological prime mover is their omnipresence and invisibility. Once again, viruses have altered the way that we view them and, by extension, ourselves. As it turns out, they are not the little breakaway shards of our biologywe are, of theirs.
"Well, that was really disgusting. Yes, truly vile. Let's watch it again so we can figure out just how disgusting it was....er, do you think they sell posters of the young guy?...just asking, no reason"
You a Christian Reconstructionist ?
An excellent summation of how the blind lead the eyeless.
Carolina Guitarman:
"Science is not capable of examining the question of whether or not there is a God."
You can be forgiven for this grossly erroneous statement, due to the gaping hole in your education, but science has proven the existance of God by the soundest of principles:
The proponderance of the evidence.
The numeric evidence alone is so overwhelming that any who doubt God's existance certify their own incognition. Those denying statistical evidence cannot lay claim to the title scientist.
I'm reminded of a little fat bald guy yellling out from the bleachers at Nolan Ryan. "Hey Ryan, ya bum, learn to pitch"
