Should women not be firefighters or have the same opportunities? Why would changing the height and weight requirements to allow women to compete, be wrong?Stupid PC statement.

I doubt that minimal requirements allow a 110 lb person to qualify for a fireman's position. I'm sure their is a minimum weight and height requirement, adjusted for female stature but not one open ended. And I'm sure that all firefighters, M or F have minimal lifting requirements. Police departments also have minimum height, weight and physical ability requirements, slightly adjusted for the female stature.

Why would changing the height and weight requirements to allow women to compete, be wrong? Hell yes it's wrong...and stupid....unless they are just dispatchers

Have you ever known a firefighter or seen what they have to do?
Weight and height requirements are good things. Especially when they're tied into strong physical fitness tests.
In some departments, those tests have been lowered as well, because even after lowering the height and weight requirements, 'enough' women still weren't getting through.
If the height requirement is 5' 8", the 5'4" woman is just as excluded as the 5'7" man.
Conversely, the 5'9" woman has the same opportunity as the same sized man.
It's just the plain, honest truth that certain jobs require certain physical characteristics. You lower the standards just to let in more women, and people can die. Lives can depend in those requirements being met.

You're against equal rights?screw your equal rights PC BS. When it comes to firefighters, there is no damn such thing as equal rights. My home is on fire, I want the strongest, biggest damn firefighters that can be hired to respond.

You should have seen the video smuggled out of LAFD. The female recruits couldn't even pull the hoses over a 6' wall.
And what did those PC SOBs do. They went after those that smuggle the vidoe out. It was pathetic. 90 pounds of gear etc and they were basically helpless. It was a joke.
Who in the F**k do you want showing up at your home when it's on fire? A 120 pound female, or someone that can do the damn job?

Do you have a vested interest in this woman being defeated?
Because it sure looks like it; you're been posting derrogatory comments about her for the last four days almost non-stop.

heh...somehow I knew a person like howlin would try to twist this around.
If my house is on fire, I don't want a 5' 4" woman trying to break down the door because some politician thought they needed more women on the force. I want a big, burly firefighter who is going to have the size and weight to get my family out of there ASAP.

do you have any reason to justify lowering the standards of a force whose primary job duty is to use their bodies to save lives?
Or are you just rationalizing again?
