I don't want to disrespect Terri. God knows she has earned every bit of respect I can give. But some here are using her at their golden calf....
My stepdaughter has worked in a nursing home for 12 years and she has said the exact same thing. And I can't count, and neither can she, the number of feeding tubes that have been removed from people in Terri's condition, massive stroke victims with flat EEG like Terri's, people whose kidneys have shut down and for which there is no hope, etc.
I think our problem here has been that so many people thought this was a one time thing.
And we've had our good religious people agitated by the DU'ers who are coming here pretending to be Christians but espousing things that make Christians look bad. Deliberately.
The accidentally spilled soup-in-the-lap trick can turn the conversation.

People don't own religion, they find what the need in order to lead good lives. There are nutcases in every religion. Ours are just relatively more civilized because our society has made rules that will be inforced to keep it that way. But by the threats you have seen lately, that is just a thin veneer.
