Did the Catholic Church assemble the old Testament (the Torah and Tenach)?

Ignorant comments from people who regurgitate what their equally ignorant Baptist preachers spew. So someone makes an ignorant comment about Catholics, and you make an ignorant comment about Baptist preachers in return. The original poster didn't say anything about being Baptist. You would do well to follow your own advice and think before you post.

"The Kingdom of Edom, mentioned throughout the Old Testament, and a continuous source of hostility for Biblical Israel, is thought to have existed in what is now southern Jordan."
Continous source of hostility? These Canucks have surely discovered ancient Palestine.

All well and good, but much of current doctrine contradicts the Bible, such as the acceptance of homosexuality, the churchs calling for no capital punishment, the ban on married priests when Timothy said even Bishops can be married...

"I believe in the Bible wholeheartedly, what i have trouble with is the Catholic Church's teaching that is contrary to the Bible."
Please answer the question. How do you know which books belong in the Bible? God did not deliver a complete set at one time. If you believe the Bible wholeheartedly (as do I and most Catholics) you should know what you are believing.

I am not one of those either....

The Deconary in my hometown (with six parishes, a cloistered Monestary, and an all-girls Catholic college in the area), offers dozens of Bible-reading groups, including those for single fathers, single mothers, parents without partners, college students, graduate students, young married couples, retired couples, widows and widowers, five different groups for teens, five groups for middle school students, plus one ore more at each parish.

"Catholic ping? do Catholics read the Bible, much lest the Old Testament??"Not since The Epistle Edict of Ignatius to the Magnesians, when Jews were declared to be "children of perdition" and Christ killers.

I'll be more impressed if any archaeological evidence is ever found to support the Jews being held in Egypt as slaves, the Egyptian empire being brought to its knees by a series of plagues.

No,,, dont you be believe that the Catholics represent the whole of Christianity, the Catholics are a denomination. And if the Church gets into trouble, it doesn't represent a smear on nondenominational Christians. The Church today doesnt adhere to the Bible, only gives the Word lip-service, if it did, they wouldnt have homosexual priests molesting boys. Homosexuality is condemned in no uncertain terms in many Bible passages.
To: Military family member
My point is that the Church doesn't strictly obey the word of the Bible, reading it and not using the lessons contained in it is of little use.

I have a King James version myself that was sent to me for free in the mail. Now if some versions of the Bible include different Scriptures, I wont quibble one bit over their inclusion in the book... Since the deeds of the Bible happened 2000 years ago, we need an unimpeachable reference to know what went on in those times. So the Catholic Bible is a great reference....so is the KJV

FYI I sure am not a Baptist I am a Nondenominational Christian
To: aspiring.hillbilly
You do not know what you are talking about. I attend the Latin Mass and everyday a gospel and epistle are said and on Sundays and major feast days, sermons upon those gospels are said. Not "lip-service"! Anti-Catholic bigot "minister" elsewhere!!!!!

...and you make an ignorant comment about Baptist preachers in return. It would be so nice if folks learned to read and understand English before trying to use this forum. There was nothing inaccurate in my statement, therefore it cannot be ignorant.
Think about it for a while and get back to me. Or not.

And what might those teachings be? I suspect you are terribly misinformed.
