if we are going to use nuclear reactors, why not use the fission-pile nuclear-hydrogen rocket system developed in the '50's? KIWI was the project name.
IIRC, there is a Floridian Universtiy working on a much better version of this design right now.
Google: space>"advanced propulsion">nuclear>florida
that should bring it up.

I like hugs, no matter what size they come in. And at 15, he is going to feel the pain a lot more than if he were younger, so keep that pudding handy!

with the discovery of "entanglement" it seems to me that we may be looking for love in all the wrong spaces... Radio may be a non-starter if them ayleeuhns are all chatting on entangled-particle instant communications rigs.

that's KARO.
funny but true.
Karo is made by a goodly number of companies in Georgia.
We have a Cairo, GA. It is mispronounced as "KAY-ROH", but is spelled like the old town in Egypt.
They have a high school.
It has a football team.
They are named... The Syrupmakers.
No, I am not joking.

Cairo, IL, isn't too far from me. Most people I know pronounce it Kay-roh. Others pronounce it like the city in Egypt. I use the Egyptian version.

I always ask how it's pronounced when I go to a place with a name that can be pronounced several ways. It just seems more "friendly." Er sumthin'.
