"Don't forget the Poblachd Saorsa distillery is in operation, though it's shutting down tonight."
The mourning begins tonight at 8pm EST. Well... the mourning came in advance of the night's shutdown. The distillery is still running, with good whisky (Gaelic: uisge-bheatha, "Ooshka Vay-hah" -- water of life) rolling out under the dulcet tones of a well-tuned bagpipe playing lullabies...
...but a shutdown, for process effectiveness evaluation and lack of said piper ('cuz he'll be on airplanes -- see following image) is about to occur.

A distillery, huh? Sweet... He should get the RKBA Shot Glass of Distinction award for that one. Gee.. shucks... but the real development is the new aging technique: in an oaken cask as always, but under the sweet dulcet tones of a bagpipe lullaby which smoothens the journey of the single-malt Scots whisky to... well... the smoothness one expects of everything Scottish!
And with that invention,we are now in production of Poblachd Saorsa, (in Engels, "Free Republic"), the best whisky straight from The Official Distillery of the Undead ThreadTM!
Just the thing for when Rexxy & Stag come to visit...

Do you have any idea how ugly that is when loading over a slow dialup connection?
And can you tell me the message at the end? Lambda-lambda-backwardsC doesn't mean a thing to me. (Ich verstehe das nicht, No comprende, Chan eil mi sin a'tuigsinn.)

"I just haven't been able to have fun since I had to sell my jack-boots on eBay..." I'd like to have a pair of Jack-Boots. Of course, mine would be ... different.
You would use them to "jack" yourself up to being taller. So you could reach that stuff on the top shelf.
I guess they should be more properly called "stilt boots", a smaller scale device to those industrial stilts the drywall finishers use.
Everything would be built in. They would look like regular engineer boots, but you could activate a mechanism, and extend them out in stages, as you get taller and taller. Then when you finish your task, just collapse them back to normal size again.
There you go -- Jack-Boots. Send the money to NicknamedBob.

*looking at an exquisite garden statue*
In gardens where she lays
with dew drops in her hair,
thinking of a love
that is no longer there.
Dew drops on her skin
mixed with salty tears,
dying cries & despairing sighs...
alas, noone hears.
And so in gardens
she lays down to rest
the shattered heart lying
within her trembling breast.
*statue offers no response*
You don't like it either huh?

But I LIKED your jack-boots.
Went well with the Col Klink impersonation..
..and that ridiculous round ash-tray doubling as a monocle.
(I admit to being the guy who keep sticking the bubble gum wrappers in the ash tray. Since I don't smoke, not since I quit bursting into flames, I have no other reason to use one..)

I like it very much. With some more work, you could turn it into an elegiac poem, or alternatively, a very nice mournful love song.

It's time for sionnsar to sign off, finish packing, eat, sleep, and ready himself and the goodwife for tomorrow's long journey from (really liberal but comfortable) Seattle to (really, really liberal but too freakingly warm!) Key West -- final destination: hotel meeting rooms in exotic locales!
The UT/FR distillery is hereby shut down. No more Poblachd Saorsa ("Free Republic") whisky will be produced until sionnsar's return, due to the absence of any backup pipers ready, willing and able to play the sweet dulcet tones of bagpipe lullabies to induce the accelerated (as compared to the lazy antiquated processes of yore, simply ignoring the stuff whilst it sits in the barrel in the kind of cold damp dark that epitomizes Seattle's climate -- but I digress) "aging" of the proto-whisky.
Dead Thread pings are also terminated for the durance most vile. If you have been living in dread of another such, you should be able to relax until at least noon on November 19, 2004, which is about the earliest that another can be issued, excepting special unforeseen situations in the interim which will require internet access from various hotels -- not a given, in sionnsar's experience.
G'night, y'all Undead-Threaders...
