Can I be the God Father?
LOWER
Then again, didn't even Robert E. Lee give up the fight for Gettysburg after three days?
I mean, some freepers just don't know the meaning of the word, "quit."
Occasionally I'll have some o.j.
Hehehehe. ;)
I like Bobby V for some things, but can't stand how he handles pitchers. However, I think he finally came into his own with the Mets.
Well, to be honest, I'm not the world's biggest baseball fan, so I'll just have to take your word on that. However, I do think he did great things with the Mets.
Do you remember who canned Bobby from the Rangers?
Don't even get me started on Steve Phillips and how he (sort of indirectly) caused me to have my most embarrassing night as a sports reporter!
Back in 1998, when he made the sudden announcement that he was taking a leave of absence because of the sexual harassment charges, guess who got stuck sitting in the middle of the busy newsroom, reading the rather graphic press release over the phone to our Mets beat writer? The guy didn't have a fax machine at home, so I had to dictate the entire thing to him!
The only positive (?) thing to come from that experience was that a night or 2 later, I was on Curtis Sliwa's radio show (when he was on late at night, by himself) to defend the media's role in Phillips's LOA. People were calling in to bitch about how the media were obviously "chasing" him and "created" the story, while I knew that we were all caught off guard -- and I was the first person in our sports department (at a large, daily NYC-area newspaper) to find out about it when I pulled it out of the fax machine.
geesh, you are a prancing martinet about this thread... but you lack the requisite eloquence in your arrogance. Allow me, in rebutting your preposterously absurd proprietary claim, and in stating mine own in terms beyond contestation, to show you how it is done:
This is not your thread: It is mine. I know about it now, so it is mine.
It is true that you are to be credited for alerting me most recently to this thread's existence, and for piqueing my interest enough that I deigned to visit. For this, little fellow, I thank you.
However, you are not the first to ping me to it, nor are you this thread's inceptor or master. Now that I know about it, I am both... the Viggo so informs me.
Everything that exists without my knowledge does so without my permission.
This thread now has my permission to exist.
Therefore, I own it.
It is mine.
NYAGH!
Ha! My parents were both diehard Brooklyn Dodger fans and later Mets fans. :)
awww... will they not be so kind as to help that poor stranded Beluga back into the deeps? Or, at least, break out the dynamite?
Welcome to New York City. {picture of a gun} Now duck, {word that rhymes with brother trucker}
What does quit mean?
and too dainty. hardly even worth the name "hors d'ouevre"
O J with Vodka
and now that we with PhDs in free-flowing insanity have arrived, you (yes, you) with Vo-Tech certificates in pathetic burbling may now retire.
Especially since I purchased it from this Bengali woman with that tortured syntax you hear only from people just off the boat.
She was very kind though.
I don't know if she realized the inherent irony in the fact that she was selling a shirt that made fun of her countrymen though.
Peanut-butter Mites? They are almost impossible to eradicate, you know.
there is no need: I have deposed the illegitimate usurper to my throne and now am suzerain of this entire thread.
Quit a' scufflin' and a' scratchin' Clitus! You is got ta put on that thar tuxxido if yers ta be matriculamated thru that thar school for visual arts.
Clitus:
(Puts on cumber bum. Brushes front tooth. Pushes open door to rusted-over, hillbilly shack.)
Well alls rite. But I ain't a' sittin' next too dat varmint Marteen Scorsaysee. That thar city-boy is boun' to be the ruination of me.
Well, don't look to us to help change its diapers!
"quit" spelled backwards is "tiuq", which, as you surely know, is an ancient herbal preparation from the dire Plateau of Leng, for the reanimation of slain warriors and the raising of brain-noshing zombies.
