Thanks! Will do!

I do that all-night thing, too, only I'm not usually as productive! ;-)

I can't wait to see the new one we came up with last night. Is that what you've been working on Kat?

One problem, Arnie is "conservative" the same way Moore is "non-partisan".

Somewhat sunny here.
Can't tell, there's a paving crew outside making asphalt fumes and dust oil smoke waft about.
*sigh*
At least they're doing a somewhat decent job of it.

Around here, the road maintenance people just throw gravel in the holes. It's a bumpy ride :-).

Roger that. I'm not taking any more chances with the insecticides or anything else for that matter.

Not even with the lawn fertilizer and that is a very different story. I won't get into the details leading up to this dubious and ill-fated attempt at lawn and garden care, but the net result was an enormous round burn mark in the weeded area that lasted for a very long time....

Looked like a miniature version of a daisy cutter made LZ in Nam.

Safe to say, I contract the weed and feed stuff out now. Got Ants? Call Orkin.

Don't even get me started about using ladders to the third story. Scary s^&&*. When that ladder suddenly slides left and dangles off the gutter that scares the daylights out of you if you happen to be on that ladder. Forget a rollercoaster, if you want to get the poop scared out of you, run a ladder up to the top of your house and take a look at the roof if you are bored. FYI, that horn hook stabilizer bar does not always stay in place. Trust me. Been there.

No sirrey Bob, no more chances. I remind myself of that Irish guy in the Guinness Book of World Records that some people TRIED to kill back in the Great Depression to get some life insurance money. They fed him gas or other petroleum products in lieu of beer, metal filings in his sandwich, etc. I think they eventually just shot him or something. Can't remember the exact story. Check it out.

Yes, I am lucky to still be standing. One of my purposes on this earth is to vote for Bush and Cheney in November. The Good Lord will keep me around for that at least, I am certain.

I have some pretty funny and harrowing near-miss jack#// stories, if properly told will make you spit your coffee on your monitor. All true.

A couple of non-economic reasons immediately come to mind if cash is not an issue and is lying around in copious amounts, and normal economic criteria are not factors (ROI, Capital outlay, overall cost effectiveness, etc).

1) Self sufficiency, always a bonus, particularly is the water supply is interrupted or contaminated;
2) It takes some of the strain off of the public system so that others can have access to water (although some who wantonly waste it don't deserve it, IMHO);
3) Water purity/Quality Control issues. If you completely control your own water supply and have invested significant capital in cutting-edge water treatment, you can manage the QC of your water, rather than delegating this to others and trusting their QC procedures.

Drilling a well costs money. Extraction technology (gas or electric pumps) costs more money. A water purification infrastructure on the property costs yet more money depending on how the scale of the water treatment hardware. Not cost effective, but these are some reasons why someone with the extra cash to burn may consider drilling a well.

Land is an obvious issue. It would be pretty funny if someone living in an apartment complex tried drilling a well through the floor. That would get the other tenants riled up, among other things.

Gee. I guess I should feel quite relieved...where I hail from, they pave a new road and within two weeks they are digging it up for gas, sewer, cable or phone lines.

After they have patched all the new trenches, they repave the entire thing, then begin to dig it up all over again for "new technology."

That's what I call "job security" for the pavers...

They did something similar here about two years ago.
They needed to repaint the lane markers, but the road needed to be repaved.
What do they do?
They repaint the lines, then throw down oil and stone on it, THEN pave over it because they were supposed to put the oil and stone elsewhere.
So after all this phenominal waste, the road needs to be repainted again.
And then they replaced the bridge here and chewed the road up in the process.
Bridge replacement was delayed for a bit while the electric company played games, they have lines nearby and needed to do a studyor some such.
Once the bridge was being dismantled and had already had it's structure compromised, the local enviro-wacky drove down in his Beemer and started screaming at the construction crew.
Then he checked the creek for animal bodies and body parts, warned them not to harm the fishies and froggies, and then drove off.
*ugh*

What a nightmare that was.

Remember 'Tobor'?
Well, I just got Freepmail from him.
He's whining about the 'welcoming committee' becomeing nicer.
I asked him if he has a problem with saying it in thread.
He returns with "I thought that's what you'd say".

He didn't dispute my comment that he was a retread with a vendetta against the VK's and anyone associated with them.

And recall that one, who went after Eggs and myself?

And I was getting emails from trolls, as well. I cut off my email address being accessed from FR, after that.

They're getting bolder, My Brothers.

The FReepmail:

1st)Re: Old-Timers versus Newbies
From Tobor | 10/07/2004 12:48:04 PM EDT replied

"Nevermind Tobor.
He's a retread troll with some attitude about being outed the last time.
(I.e., he was banned before for something and has a vendetta.)
If he behaves himself this time, he'll stay.
If he keeps with his calling people directly "bullies" as he did in a thread he posted that was pulled, he's going to draw the ire of the mods. " [my post]

Time will tell.

Nobody apologizes for vanities anymore, and the
welcome committee has become polite. Go figure.

Not Saber. He's got his sycophants over on LP. Let him be content to stew.

And the Welcome Committee is only polite when manners are shown first, but my ZOT-check proifile seems to be working just fine, for now.

And I agree - there shoudl be a Bonfire For The Vanities.
