Drivers now know not to race back to the line so they may let of the gas a little bit, espically when you have a 10 car pile up in your mirror.
You could've said the same thing at Dega last fall, but they had a Hendrick car to give a win to and a spun-out Hendrick car to protect, and didn't have a spun-out Roush car to potentially trap as the last car on the lead lap.
LOL! I'm sure they have a few spare cases sitting around there.
Kenseth earned the nickname "Matt the Brat" with good reason. The Fox broadcasters and NASCAR are a bunch of chickensh!ts - never mentioned his name once as the culprit who caused the wreck that brought out the red flag.
Then in the restart, Kenseth helped push Harvick pass Martin on the outside before Kenseth wrecked the field again. Kenseth cost Mark Martin this Daytona 500. Thank you Jack Rousch.
And all you screen capturers, your wonderful.
Even though I came in late, it was a ball. What an ending.
They can't throw the yellow on the last lap! The winners already crossed the finish line anyway the field freezes behind them I believe.
Congrats to Harvick.
For the love of God NASCAR, get rid of restrictor plates! They're dangerous.
what a great finish. This was the one time I actually wish NASCAR had thrown the "lightning" Yellow like they did at Talledega for Gordon a couple years ago, but that is just for sentimental reasons obviously. I am a full advocate of racing back to the line if they are in front of the wreck, and it was a great dash to the line.
NASCAR wrecked half of those cars by waiting to throw the yellow. Everyone from third on back was still hammer down because they were fighting for a finish. By the time they "froze the field", 10+ cars were wrecked.
From a sales angle, I think it would be more appealing to see a partially quaffed beverage in the driver's hand as opposed to a completely untouched one. Then, if he finished the whole thing he could ask aloud for another tasty (insert product name here).
OIC....thanks....did Flash finish or did he crunch?
Just showed the replay. Martin was ahead when the wreck started. So...I guess I still don't get it.
Thought they said earlier that the yellow came down when Harvick crossed the line.
Won't be seeing you on the race threads anymore.
I may be wrong but I thought that was the policy,, race to the checkered.. I would hate to lose waiting for a yellow on the last lap.
I'll miss you; but a man's gotta do....
They showed him unofficial in 12th.
but that was obviously too late by the "normal" standards of a yellow.
its obvious they consciously held the yellow so as not to invalidate the finish. they need to officially change the rule.
