You keep lists. Of random strangers on the internet. What a sad, sad life you must lead.

The tariffs (taxes) have already done their damage to the economy. It doesn't help to tax people and then rebate a portion of what government has extracted. It would have been better to retain the tariff (tax) receipts already extracted and lower tax rates in the future. It frustrates the hell out of me that Trump doesn't understand basic economics.

Of course I fear that some on this site don't understand economics either. There is a strong contingent that thinks we can tax ourselves into prosperity as long as Trump does it.

If tariffs are taxes can you avoid the "tax" by not buying "taxed" goods?
NOT a rhetorical question.

No. Let's assume a consumer would prefer to buy a Japanese car for $50,000, but it is taxed to be $60,000. Therefore, the consumer buys an inferior (in the consumer's opinion) American car for $58,000 and pays no tariff. The consumer has to pay more for an inferior product due to tariffs. Do you think the consumer has avoided the damaging effects of the tariff?

Trump never said there would be 5000 sent out from DOGE. That was a suggestion by Musk to Trump who did not say yes or no to that.

I have to keep track of the TDS fools myself. This is a dark negative place with many bad actors. I still enjoy it though.

So remind me again what happened the last time everybody got free money from Uncle Sam? Something about inflation...?

We America first totally understand economics. We have seen what a slutty sleazy globalist no tariff environment has done to the USA. We are old enough to have seen and predicted the jobs lost and communities destroyed.

The only fix is to tariff imports. Patriots understand that this doesn’t fit the globalist economic model. But economic terrorist free traders would completely deindustrialize the USA. We can’t have that. Think of tariffs the anti socialism vaccine.

Let’s get imports to zero. Then we can switch to another consumption tax.

What confuses me is so called Conservative are against tariffs which are consumption based. Do you know how hypocritical that is? You sound like fools.

That is rich. Name a country that imported, retailed and consumed itself into prosperity. You are an economic idiot.

Many foreign companies that export to the USA get kickbacks from the importers and subsidies from their government to lower prices. But I think you knew that.

You’re wrong.
There is all sorts of stuff out there discussing the possible $5K DOGE refund.
That is not the point that I was trying to make.
For the more obtuse in the audience, The $2K Tariff rebate check is no more likely to arrive than was the $5K DOGE check.
We are being played.

Don’t matter where it comes from. The federal government spending remains with a $1.7 trillion deficit for 2025 alone and $38+ trillion in total federal debt. Getting a little money in tariff revenue does not materially change that picture and is no cause for spending it on ON ANYTHING other than paying off debt.

Seeing is believing and so far any rebates is much hot air from Trump.

The consumer has to pay more for an inferior product due to tariffs.

No, they don't. They choose to buy what they choose to buy.

If they're so enamored with a foreign product they consider superior then they can choose to buy it, added cost or not.

They aren't forced to (has to) do anything and they can avoid the tariff if they so choose. They're still getting a car.

Do you think the consumer has avoided the damaging effects of the tariff?

You are the only one claiming the tariff is damaging.
I'm only stating the tariff can be avoided.
