Charlie had personal security, to protect him if someone came up to him and tried to shoot him or stab him..he never imagined that someone would go on a rooftop 200 feet away and try to kill him..he’s been doing this for years it never crossed his mind. When I got the first email alert that Charlie had been shot in Utah I thought maybe someone went up to him and shot him but when I read about a shooter on the roof I immediately thought of Butler..you can bet this perp got the idea from the Butler PA assassination attempt

They may have been giving signals but I think those are security guys giving signals to other security guys. No one would send a signal that said “Shoot the guy I’m standing immediately behind,” unless the added the signal @And do t miss!”
What about drone surveillance of rooftops before and during events? Very simple, cheap and effective…but few seem to do this as a SOP.
