Wait for Harold Ford Jr. (D) to run

I would be worried that he might win and replace a R with a D, but didn’t he have some skeletons that got him out of the House?

I don’t like safe GOP incumbents opening up their seats to new elections, just to fulfill their personal ambitions for higher office.

If Blackburn had first went out, beginning a few years ago, and supported and nurtured an up and coming GOP politician who could take her Senate seat, that would be a better way for her to “move on”. She could have said “I will be running for Governor, but I am supporting “xxxxxxxxxxxxx” whom you all know and you know they’d make a great Senator”.

Just throwing it all to political chance, without any party building strategy, is not what really good GOP office holders should be doing.

Harold Ford Jr. probably earns a lot more money
appearing on "The Five" then he could earn being in
the Senate. Plus he's seen by millions of people
every week.

Salary wise, YES, BUT pretty sure he will attend the Nancy Pelosi school of economic financial success for crooked politicians along with AOC and Crockett!

Prior to the 17th Amendment the governor was the most important political official of the state. A state’s senator while not a subordinate position was of lessor political importance. The governor was responsible for the state’s sovereignty vs-a-vs it’s relationship with the federal government the senator was the state’s voice toward federal policy. The 17th Amendment wrecked this basic republican (NOT REPUBLICAN PARTY related!) structure. This is another reason why it should be repealed!

Just another politician that is not living up the commitment she made to those that voted for her.

Marsha Blackburn = 73 years old.

Can't these old Boomers just retire already and enjoy their golden years?

She wants to leave with 4 years left on her term-not right. An informed primary voter will take that into account. Would she resign out of spite? I’d like to find out but right now it’s on Tennessee republicans.

This is easy
Marsha makes noise and in her heart she’s a trad con from Miss like me although I’m more paleo Sam Francis
I met her thru my kids and her niece

But to get along she’ll be more Haslam and Lee

GOPe here statewide elections

It’s $$ and influence from Belle Meade and lookout mountain

That’s the power for senate and guv

Again via kids I was friends with Chrus Devaney who ran State gop for uniparty Bob Corker

Chris broke off over Trump he being an early trumper like me

He was always solid but not allowed to administer that way

I’d give Marsha a 6.5 or so on serious will govern like we’d like

Maybe a 7

Likely better than Lee

Lee has a huge black eye over that school and that poor girl they all ignored

I detest how that was handled and my middle boy is privy to a lot of the facts and back story

All of your questions *could* be answered “Yes” - just depends on the timeline.

She would likely make her resignation effective at the time she is sworn in as governor. She would then appoint her successor. Tennessee’s laws do allow for special election to fill the seat, likely depending on how much longer her term is. If within two years for the term to expire, the appointment could last the remainder of the term. If there is more time than that, the special election would likely occur at the next general election to fill the remainder of the term.

He lost that race before to Bob Corker. Blackburn replaced him in 2018.

Harold Ford ran for Senate once before in a year *very* favorable to Democrats nationwide, had enormously positive national media attention like he was greatest thing since sliced bread, magazine covers, etc. and he was against a rather uninspiring Republican candidate (Corker) and lost...and Tennessee has only become even more Republican since then.

“When I die, Harold Ford will let me pay taxes again!”

Thanks for the correction. I misread some info.

Side note on the special election to fill Congressman Mark E. Green’s seat. There is a out right comunist running.

Communist Richard Arnold Grayson • FEC H6TN07252 His campaign committee is “TENNESSEE’S CUTEST COMMUNIST FOR CONGRESS RICHARD GRAYSON FOR TN-07”

Besides being a communist he is apparently a nut job.

Interestingly enough Foxnews claims that if Blackburn wins governorship in 2026 and leves the Senate, the governor (Lee or Herself depending on when she resigns Senate seat) will be able to appoint replacement for the whole reaminder of her term, so ther would be no special election for that seat in 2028 just the “normal” election in 2030. I’m not sure however if that’s correct.

For a black, Memphis, Democrat, Harold Ford does a pretty good imitation of sanity. I mean, he’s not Jasmine Crockett crazy.

I've been watching this guy for a bit. I plan to leave the Marxist degeneracy of Oregon for TN in around 5 years. He's a communist sociopath, but, because he's in TN, he knows he has to hide it unlike OR or CA Marxists.
