I bought a couple conversion kits off of Amazon a couple months ago and they work great. I was spilling more gas with the new tanks then I ever did with the old.
The problem with the plastic cans is that the new spouts rot when exposed to the heat and the fuel vapors. And they break when you attempt to open them afterwards.
Unworkable junk. Many different complex designs all made to be unworkable junk.
I use funnels or the battery powered tank insert pumps.

They are all supposed to be air tight, that is what the simple cap did. Those vapors escaping are your “light ends” which help with ignition. Store gas out of the sun in a cool place.
Not a problem for most people. I spent many eight hour days measuring thousands of bbls of gasoline flowing into a ships tank through an open ullage. I never had any health problems from that. I got most of my health problems from safe and effective.
The surprise is no one has designed and patented better choices of gas tank and spout assemblies up to now.
Maybe there is no one configuration suitable for all.
After-market spouts have been available for years.
Mostly you just have to run a drill down the spout and break off the latch mechanisn. Same for the shower heads.
There was a lot less fumage from the old flexible spouts than from the funnels that are often substituted for the new trick spouts that appear to be designed to be discarded in exasperation.

I was waiting for that one! This is mainly about lawnmower gas, but they do make electric mowers.
I always buy the replacement spout kits that come with a breather that you install. They work great. The original “push” spouts are garbage. They cause spills rather than preventing them.
