I lived in NY all my life- in Westchester county, just north of the city....NYChitty of the 70’s was as bad, if not worse than it is now when it comes to crime, filth, etc during the Abe Beame/Bella Abzug years...is was a complete craphole..

My dad was NYPD during that time...i remember the Guardian Angels being a Godsend at the time- they basically did what the police could not or would not do and, dare i say, helped save the city...
