Folks should pay more attention to what else is going on in Qatar.

Trump knows what he’s doing.

It’s just a common government contract. Almost nobody in public service gives a crap about taxpayer money or quality of workmanship. The people who made the contract are not likely even there to supervise the job to the finish. Delays, cost overruns and boondoggles are seemingly the norm. They built about seven 747s each year but they stopped building them in 2023. Theoretically they still have the assembly plant, after all they still have at least one more to build under contract. I understand that this is a special build with all kinds of defensive armaments and custom interior but still, one would think that they could build one in a couple of years. But heck, there’s no job security in that. The workers on this project will have 20 years of employment to build a single jet where I imagine 70-80% of it is “stock” components - fuselage and wings and turbines etc.

Hey, “heavy driver.”

Your unique bona fides are a testament to Free Republic’s attraction. One never knows who is really behind their nom de guerre. <> Bigbrown<> That’s a good one.

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, I was on the United States Army Parachute Team, the Golden Knights. The largest aircraft I ever had the pleasure of free-falling out of was an empty C-141 Starlifter. The pilots practiced a max climb to altitude profile, and we went from ground zero to 17,000 feet in 4 minutes! LOL!

I had an idea for a commercial previously, related to big brown.

By the way, one of the NASCAR drivers was sponsored by big brown, and from time to time, would appear in a national commercial on TV.

My idea was for the driver to be in bed, having something like a nightmare, and tossing and turning in bed, only to be awakened by his wife.

The driver recalls the dream...

He’s in a big brown truck racing his competitive peers in a NASCAR race, and all of the other drivers are in their traditional race cars, bunched up around him as he takes the checkered flag.

<> <> <>

I would thoroughly enjoy being hurled into the abyss, exiting a wide body at a sustainable level flight speed.

The C-141 uses an air deflector/wind screen, shaped like an elongated kidney bean that extends out into the slip stream to give the jumper a dead air space in order to clear the fuselage a safe distance, and to facilitate assuming the correct body position.

In our case, we would assume a ski jumper’s body position and “ride” the relative wind, trying to lose as little altitude as possible until our forward speed decreased and gravity took over. Good times! I think the aircraft’s speed was around 140 knots, but I am not sure if it will maintain altitude at that speed. Maybe if it is empty and low on fuel?

Soft landings but “landings” just the same.

Keep your airspeed up, Captain! <>freepersup<>

Calling myself out for incorrect data.

In researching the maximum climb rate of an empty C-141 Starlifter, GROK 3 AI reports 2,600 feet per minute, but does imply that the rate could be higher, but not by how much, depending on the usual variables such as temperature, humidity, specific model, and aircraft configuration.

I also found that the airspeed (stall parameters) was much lower than 140 knots, provided the aircraft was empty, and even slower if (planned/calculated) low on fuel.

First, probably full of sensors and bugs. Maybe kill switches.

Second, its not outfitted with the emp shielding and necessary communications gear for being an Air Force One command center. It will take years to retrofit properly.

And, right there is the crux of the issue. We have failed in our (electorate) oversight of these wretched scum.

Spontaneous outburst: I should watch myself and be kinder to more people around here.

I graduated 8th grade, quit high school after a month of intermittent attendance, and left home at the ripe old age of fifteen. I often felt like I was doing everything wrong, living an unorthodox, unplanned life.

In retrospect, it’s been a pretty good run.

It’s an old cliche, but if I knew I would live this long, I would’ve taken better care of myself. Ba doom tish! Lol.

I removed my profile for some contrary reason or another... I am glad you kept yours up. I stumbled upon it years ago and found the body of work to be a great warning and GUIDE of sorts.

I can only imagine what you have been up to on this big, beautiful, blue spinning ball for all of your life. Takes one to know one. ;0)

Take care FRiend! CHEERS!
