Lol

Unlike other things, Ontario cannot sell it electricity else where. So start shutting down the power plants and laying of their workers Doug and see how well that works for you

OK cut the electricity off if you have malignant stupidity. Canada’s economy is 7% of the economy of the USA as measured in GDP. The USA has far greater ability to hurt Canada than what they can do to us.

Since importers pay the tariffs, they have the effect of making the goods from a source subject to import tariffs more expensive than those without tariffs. if there are alternative sources, this has the effect of forcing the seller to lower prices to compete. One would hope that Trump analyzed how this might play out before proceeding.

Ford is just playing domestic politics. He’s well aware of how much Canada would lose vs how much Ontario will lose.

He doesn’t mean a word he says and he knows it.

Do provinces have independent rights to act against foreign entities?

This is the problem with socialism, if the government is not involved in your company they can’t restrict who you sell commodities to, unless of course you are a sworn enemy or terrorist nation.

Ontario’s “threat” is an encouragement for Americans
to look elsewhere for nickel.

Can anyone find a list of trade tarrif percentages that Canada and Mexico imposed on US goods in the past 10 or so years?

a Google search just shows the current “trade war” nonsense and I can’t find any reliable sources of past product and tarrif percentages other countries have imposed on the US for the past decade or so.

Thanks.

Given all the tariffs that Canada has had on certain US goods, one would think that they would reconsider. Funny how tariffs are fine for other countries but not the US.

So he’s going to raise the cost of electricity in Canada to punish Trump for calling Canada on unfair trade?

Is he also going to hold his breath until he is blue?

Canada literally has extra electrical capacity it either going to be used or wasted. It costs nothing to incrementally produce it. Its sale lowers the prior paid by Canadians.

What a stupid mother effer.

Looks like the Eagle Mine in the UP of Michigan will have to ramp up even more production.

BTW, they have found more deposits up there.

So eff him.

I’ve heard of pinching a penny, but cutting a nickel—that’s tough.

I love trade wars. It exposes the true @ssholes that like to pose as allies. All lovey lovey until something doesn't go their way and they can't help themselves so they lash out. I think DJT knows how to play this game better than any politician does. I find it refreshing as the scum is forced to show their true colors.

Also, Doug Ford and Christina Kruschev (I don't care what her name is) are no friend to the USA. So, bring on the FAFO and I'll make more popcorn.
