Not a surprise that the Muslims defend marrying cousins and lowering the marriage age for girls to 9.

It’s also a problem with royal families and distinguished rabbinical families, and in rural areas which don’t have a big enough gene pool to avoid it. According to Jack Crabb, the actual Little Big Man, it was also a problem among the Cheyenne for the same reason (that didn’t make it into the movie, but it’s in the book). The difference among Arabs is that, according to anthropologist Raphael Patil’s The Arab Mind, it’s considered a good thing, to be encouraged. Thus we have those Islamic MPs in the UK kicking up a fuss about outlawing cousin-on-cousin marriages.

Who knows, but it’s definitely tough to stay in business when you have to pay 40 cents per kwh.
