Eric Hoffer in his treatise The True Believer said that the more ancient a nation’s tradition of freedom and democracy goes back, the stronger it is embedded in the conscience of its people, and the more likely they are to resist tyranny.
America’s traditions go back to England, and England’s go back to the Magna Carta. That’s centuries of belief that America’s and Britain’s roots are the “Liberty Tree,” reinforced through a turbulent history. In England’s that included the beheading of King James, the exile of one king (Charles?), and the establishment of a monarch-less Republic under Cromwell, followed by the restoration of the monarchy.
They’ve been messing around with the ideas of liberty, egality and fraternity since the 12th Century. As the Left’s intentions become clearer, the resistance will become stronger and more widespread. America has no other history than being dedicated to the proposition, and you know the thing. That’s America’s North Star.
Germany Russia and France, for each of whom democracy was a newfangled notion, and the norm was tyranny and oppression of the common folk, resistance to tyrants was weak and sporadic, often completely abandoned.
So Eric Hoffer has it all figured out. I’d hate for him to be proven wrong.

The problem is... many people have no clue what’s really going on with those intentions. They’ve been gaslighted, lied to and brainwashed by the leftist media and government ghouls for so long now, it’s like second nature to them to be ...not just uninformed or misinformed... but completely clueless. Add to that a certain type of apathy that infects the minds of so many these days.... to the point that they’re convinced that it will all work out ok and that they don’t have to worry (or do a thing).
I really hope Hoffer and other optimists do have it all figured out and that they are correct and accurate in their predictions... and that I am just being paranoid. But I’ve been observing this “fundamental transformation” of America at the hands of these leftists for decades. It has, in my mind, almost gotten to the point of no return.
I’ve seen the Jewish people’s ability to overcome right here in Israel, on a daily basis, and in England’s ability to overcome as proven back in 1939, and America’s ability to overcome at every Trump rally.

The Jewish people are the true survivors. I’m hoping that we Americans can learn from them and survive as well. We are, after all, up against the same evil.

This is a road Britain has traveling on for a long time. With few exceptions, Thatcher being the last, they’ve allowed themselves to be disarmed, surveiled, censored, and now they have the thought police. There’s nothing much “Great” about Britain anymore.
I respectfully disagree. It’s been covered up, and they’ve striven mightily to forget what they once were, but Brexit passed, Tommy Robinson’s still at large, and Nigel Farage is out of retirement and standing for election. Every Brit has an inner Churchill, mostly dormant but always there beneath the surface, waiting for another finest hour to summon him forth.
But even in great nations, there’s always an inner sheep as well, who would rather just go along to get along. Left to its own devices, the herd mentality will destroy everything and commit heinous crimes. That’s what happened in Germany, and why there were so many collaborators.
Democrats, Labour, Meretz, they are the parties of the inner sheep. They have to be resisted and defeated.
