Cheatle is delaying answering some questions because she is waiting for FBI reports of personnel interviews. Why is Cheatle waiting for FBI reports ?? surely the information from assessments must be critical to ongoing security as well as oversight.
she is waiting to hear what the results of the investigation are before providing answers to congress.
she talked to everyone. she is “putting together a comprehensive report.” (sounds like a line.)
she is “still in the process of conducting an investigation.”
Even some democrats are frustrated with Cheatle’s answers.

i don’t think Cheatle is actually stonewalling; i think she genuinely is completely clueless and genuinely has no idea whatsoever what’s going on ... i think she knows only what her staff tells her and they’re not telling her squat ... Cheatle is a figurehead dupe only, which is the way the deep state wanted it when they appointed her ...
All the stonewalling is to cover up the stand down on Trump’s protection that came from Biden.

(I sense that the difference does not disallow requiring SS officers to wait until shots are fired to shoot back, depending on how the training-allowed responses to escalated threats are defined)
the Republican Congresspeople are letting Cheatle slide off the hook or defensively obfuscate in about 80% of the time. imho the issue is the phrasing of the questions along with ancillary potential for legal liability.
this still leaves about 20% of the questions which seem to hit the mark.
Cheatle is looking bad, but seems intent to keep her job.
Republicans seem to believe that Cheatle will inevitably be fired or resign.
The Democrat Congresspeople seem about 50% split on defending Cheatle versus condemning her in some way.
A common Cheatle response is that the situation is under ongoing investigation by the FBI and therefore she cannot comment.
She said that she has been in contact with the FBI chief (Wray?) and deputy chief.
She was asked at some point whether she had been told by someone in the administration to withhold information and she responded no.
There seem to be large holes in Cheatles’ responses. For example, did someone in the administration give her instructions in writing not to respond? did such written instructions or recorded messages direct her not to respond? Did any SS person working for Cheatle receive any communication telling them not to respond?
To be more effective, Congress should have subpoenaed the FBI chief (Wray?) at the same time as Cheatle. Of course, the possible response would have been a ping pong effect on scheduling two allegedly busy people, with the actual effect being a significant delay in the hearing date.
Still, they need imbo to subpoena Wray even if it results in two hearings instead of one.
Also do FBI agents routinely tell interviewees not to answer questions issued by other authorities (such as the SS, direct supervisors, or both)? Is there any legal justification for doing so? What would be the legal enforcement of such justification? Could national security be invoked to keep witnesses quiet from the press? from Cheatle? from Congress?
If the FBI is threatening witnesses, then Congress and the public needs to know this immediately imho.
