Sundance is over-the-top. Vance is from Middletown, OH, which was the home of the steel collapse in the early 80s. I have been to Jackson County, KY, where his people are from. This is genuine hillbilly country. I laugh when I hear people on the East Coast talk about “poverty.” They have not seen poverty like where Vance’s ancestors are from-—houses/properties worth 15K, washers on the front porch. These are TOUGH, hard-scrabble folks. BTW, his name changes were done b/c his mom remarried and then divorced and then he was raised by Grandma Vance. And, BTW, Vance did not call Trump “Hitler.” In context, he was texting a progressive law school classmate and said something to the effect that “I don’t know if Trump is Reagan or a literal Hitler.” There were many Republicans who doubted Trump early on but later changed their tune.
