I was in Tehran (1977-79) during the fall of the Shah and the hijacking of the Iranian Revolution by Khomeini. Carter was a disaster and we are living with the consequences to this very day.
The US did not plan on fighting a hundred Iwo Jimas and what happens when Putin wins? Ethnic cleansing and a long brutal guerilla war. It is Russia that cannot win and Russia that has already suffered strategic defeat by bringing Sweden and Finland into NATO and convincing Poland to massively rearm and the Germans that they too must prepare for war. You cannot afford this victory. You have already squandered the tawdry military legacy of 70 years of totalitarian rule and will never be able to rebuild what you had when the war broke out.
Glad to see you have it all figured out...
Obviously you don’t live here if you think there are 15 grocery stores in Picayune. There is Claibourne Hill and a Walmart. Two Winn Dixies closed down a few years back. My bet is we look like the Paris of the Mississippi panhandle compared to Chasiv Yar
Strategy is what you do when there is nothing to do and the Russian “strategy” is to throw troops into a meat grinder hoping to clog the works and have more troops march over their dead brothers hoping the Ukrainians will run out of bullets before Russia runs out of men.
Chasiv Yar had a prewar population of about 12000. Occupies strategic crossroads and has been touted as being “heavily defended” by Ukrainian forces because it is the gateway to lightly defended lands to the west. Sort of like Bastogne, pretty much a nothing of a Belgian town but the German Army needed its roads to continue their offensive. idk anything about Picayune MS, nor should I.
I saw men & women locking arms across area freeways today who avail themselves to wield our weapons against the evil Putin.
(sorry: wishful thinking)
