Both the liar and the lied-to understand it’s a lie, and everyone just goes along with it. It’s deeply embedded in Russian culture. Many of the pro-Russia freepers don’t seem to understand vranyo, and are so infatuated with their fantasy of Russkiy Mir, they accept even the most obvious lies as facts.

When thieves are caught in Russia, the authorities are just making room for a new crop of thieves. No improvement. Thievery is a major cultural institution in Russia, but not as bad as in China.
