I’m open. The last time Zee and I mentioned it there didn’t seem to be much enthusiasm.

Good morning. Happy Monday!

F-I-L got seriously confused on Friday and called asking why I hadn’t come over to plan Sunday’s trip to his hometown church. We reminded him that I never come over on Friday unless something’s wrong, and we would talk about Sunday’s trip on Saturday. When Mrs. ArGee and I arrived on Saturday he was fuming and wondering what he and his wife had done to deserve such punishment.

I think he finally got unconfused, but we didn’t make the trip yesterday. We had gotten M-I-L new shews to reduce the pain of her bunyons and we convinced them to let her feet have a week of rest before going to an 2-hour long Russian Orthodox service.

And now he’s back on wanting to drive. I think he wants to drive himself on that long trip. The thought of that gives me the willies. I wish B-I-L had come to get the car already, but he hasn’t. Oh, well.

After a 5 and a 6 at Wordle over the weekend, I’m back to 4.

Yes, that is how I remember it as well... it seemed that the novelty of it wore off...

I shudder to think of how my round would be going with the 6/6 yesterday and today’s...

Five floofs for a Monday!

Good morning/afternoon. I hope you rested well last night.

I managed to get a three-hour nap, but since I was up at 0130, it’s not surprising.

And now, the clothes have been hung up to dry, and the rest of the day is mine.

I managed to find the genealogy in the catacombs of the Slave, but I’ll need to use it more often or it won’t stay unhidden for long. I have a bunch of entries to make on my FS’s dad’s side of his family, on his paternal side.

The maternal side was easy and was done quite a few years ago, being VERY lengthy, going into the French Royalty for several (ten) generations. The paternal side has only been found recently, and so far as I’ve chased it, an arm of it goes into Prussia and one into Bavaria. It probably explains why FS loves Germany so much!

Glad you finished your wash, had a nap, and found your file! Vlad drove me to the Scouts building to pick up the van. It’s nice to have it home in one piece!

Thanks!

Good for Vlad, being a thrifty ex-Boy Scout (once a Scout, always a Scout?) and taking his Mom to get the Troop Carrier!

The Lawn Guy is here and it hurts my ears to hear all the machines he uses to make this place cool and green and shady.

I just sent an email to the doctor’s office to find out if I can fly to Denver with its increase in altitude. Maybe he’ll answer by Friday.

I won’t have that problem if I go to visit the Folks in Cabot, but I’d have to pay for that one, myself. I certainly wouldn’t be staying with them. They “don’t have room” for me, so I would stay with Pam. What fun!

For anyone who is interested, Chuck is officially retiring by the first week in June. Illness is cited, but he is long overdue. I’ll miss him. He has been a good friend.

As far as the jobs are concerned, if I can get Jim to do them for not a lot of money, I will.

Chuck’s replacement is a woman, and she seems to be very nice. Her training started today.

Here’s to a relaxing retirement for Chuck.

In other news, NYCHA announced today that it’s reopening is Section 8 Wait List for the first time in 15 years.

Someone asked how this would impact people currently on the wait list.

I’m asking myself, “Seriously? You’ve been waiting 15 years and you’re still 1) hoping to find a place in NYC and 2) still not financially able to?”

If they’ve been waiting “15 years” to get housing through Section 8, they either have no more kids left at home and thereby don’t need it or are looking to convert it into a dope house for their grandkids. :looking around to either side and in back of me: (Who SAID that?)

People “currently” on the wait list for Section 8 gave up a long time ago. The wait list in Vegas was closed for two years after Hurricane Katrina, and folks just didn’t bother to apply until they heard it had opened back up. It was amazing how many didn’t “need” Section 8 any more.

Best wishes to Chuck, long overdue, and to his replacement. And to all the tenants, who, nice as Chuck may be, have a right to expect someone who is well enough to do the job.

The eyes say the kitties are related!

Good morning. I may go back to bed in a few. I got up to open the doors so I could cool the place off since it’s 58° out.

I tried to go back to sleep but it didn’t work. *sigh*

After this last bout of bronchial-whatever, Chuck is finally taking his doctor’s advice and retiring. The gal who is his replacement is the wife of The Lawn Guy. Two other people were interviewed and one was Nate, the Lawn Guy and the other was Jim.

Jim wasn’t too interested, but said he would if no one else could be found. Nate has this property here and the sister company in Cedar City (50 miles north) as well as a couple of smaller jobs, and sometimes doubles as an EMT, so he wasn’t a good candidate. He said basically the same thing as Jim, but his caveat was “until someone else can be found.”

His wife, Beth seems to be well versed in handyman stuff, and she looks as though she will fit in. She’s in her late, 30’s — early 40’s, congenial, pleasant and smart.

And Jim may be interested in all I have for him to do, but Chuck assured me yesterday that the jobs that have been waiting will be finished before he leaves. We’ll see. Jim did say he would do a work-up on the cost for the kitchen A/C but the more I think of it, the more I wonder if Plexiglas should be installed instead of wood. It would go a long way to making my desk area more pleasant to sit at.

Having someone in the job who isn’t old sounds like a good plan.
