DeSantis says what he beleives and believes what he says.
And Trump attakced him for opening too early.
But Trump using AI generated images of Ron and C asey is peachy and brilliant, right?
“Ron DeSantis and his team do not really believe the narrative they have constructed against Donald Trump around COVID, with one of his top financial backers telling the media the ruse is just “politics”.”
Well, there goes that line of attack...
Since the idea was that covid was a Black Plague is that really wrong for the situation if it had turned out to be the Black Plague?
Native population dropped off by 95% between 1490 and 1605, because they kept spreading Small Pox to each other across the Americas, with no white people around.
Are your rights so supposedly sacrosanct that you’d are prepared to have 95% of Americas drop dead because of unlimited movements?
I know covid turned out not to be the Black Plague, but what should DeSantis have done if it had been one?
My rights don't end because of anyone's fear.
As for the "what-if" scenarios, if my aunt had a package she'd be my uncle.
The "unlimited movements" is a false argument - the Pfascists aided and abetted illegal alien invaders moving about wherever they wanted. Governors and mayors marched cheek to jowl with rioters. St. George Floyd of Fentanyl had not one but THREE funerals with crowds.
It’s been my experience that those most staunch about their rights will be the first ones to go Nazi when their lives really are on the line, so excuse me if I have my doubts about you demanding rights when it’s your life on the line. I’d be more willing to bet that you would be among the first to demand loss of rights if it was your life on the line.
When we are dealing with crises, like Black Plagues, we have to ask the what-if scenarios. Survival of a society trump rights, it really does. That’s what a responsible Governor does, take the minimal steps to prevent maximum harm.
Unfortunately we live in a low trust society, thanks to liberals wanting to eliminate rights, but that doesn’t mean that, if in the scenario of a Black Plague, that we would have had to curtail some rights in order to prevent harm. It’s not the first time we made that evaluation and acted on it. Then, when it’s apparent that the crisis is over or that it was overblown, we return the rights. Although, I understand your reluctance over the reasonable fear that, once gone, rights won’t be back. That is not unreasonable to take.
I totally understand that and generally agree. As I said, we live in a low trust society that was promoted by liberals.
However, as I said, the ones most inflexible about rights also tend to be the most willing to force the loss of those rights when it comes to their lives. I think their inability to be flexible is often behind that. They end up panicking and become equally inflexible when it means saving their hide.
As Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. said, “The Constitution is not a suicide document.” What he meant by that is that the surest way to lose your rights is to be so inflexible about it that if a person pushes his rights to the points where he is willing to have every other person lose their lives to defend those rights, society will react in such a way to make that loss permanent.
Trying to implement vehicle checkpoints at the Florida state line while illegal aliens poured in is indefensible.
remind me of the story on this. Was DeSwamp blocking the roads at the State line while illegal immigrants flew in ?
