@Tendar 12h

“There is a rather revealing development around Bakhmut. Russians are increasingly targeting the bridges connecting Bakhmut to the west using heavy artillery, mortars and missiles.

Coordinates of the bridge in Ivanivske:
48°34’40.41”N, 37°55’0.78”E

Coordinates of the bridge near Chasiv Yar:
48°35’33.66”N, 37°52’4.37”E

It is not hard to see that Russians apparently do not intend to move further west in that sector and start switching into the defense mode around Bakhmut, trying to cut off the Ukrainian supply lines.

For those asking why Russians didn’t target those bridges west of Bakhmut months ago. Because they genuinely believed to take Bakhmut, easily, and head for the actual targets:

Kramatorsk and Sloviansk

They wanted those bridges intact. The fact that they are starting to target them only now, is an admission of their failure and expression of fear that Ukrainians are now coming for them, which btw. they are indeed.

Those Russian attempts are as clumsy as their whole war effort, because those bridges can easily be replaced. The Siversky Donets Canal is not the Mississippi River. Easy task for bridge-layers, such as for 16 “Brückenlegepanzer Biber” which Germany has delivered.”

A full 🇺🇦 brigade has been training in Sweden, 🇺🇦 soldiers must have trained with Stridsvagn 122 (Leopard 2) , Stridsfordon 90 (CV-90) and Archer artillery systems. Reportedly this brigade returned to Ukraine this month - The Times

A picture is worth 1000 words.

What I can't understand is why putin didn't go around Bakhmut and head for the actual targets...probably for the same reason that hitler wanted to take stalingrad.

Repaired in less than 48 hours...most likely an R&R (remove and replace) item.

If russia truly believed they damaged or destroyed the Patriot battery, why didn't they launch another barrage of 18 missiles (kinzhals, cruise missiles, and Iskanders).

I think you nailed it. Hitler could have surrounded Stalingrad and pounded and starved it into submission, instead hitler wanted the city named after his enemy to be captured and he thought quickly for political and propaganda reasons. He even declared to the German people at one point that Stalingrad was captured.
There are many similarities here. Soviets fought for Stalingrad for political reasons but also to bleed and tie down the German military. And at the point Germany had almost captured all of Stalingrad they were out of gas as it were and the Russians had built up their forces for the counterattack that destroyed the army there and led to Germans being routed
As is said history does not repeat itself but it does rhyme.
Ukraine not only has no need to take back bakmut through the city, it would be stupid. Surround them on easier ground and let the forces inside wither

I think you are correct, evidence of weapons systems not listed in military aid but showing up on the battlefield anyways indicates to me that there is far more stuff there than has been announced. The storm shadow is being phased out so the thousand or so missiles in inventory or at least a large chunk will be or have been sent. Those along with glsdbs will be game changers. Locations thought to be safe from large scale munitions for the past year are no longer. I doubt the Russians have the ability to quickly disperse them and even if they do their logistics headaches become nightmares

They had to break out the spray paint and duct tape as well as a small hammer for some dents.

The scandal for Russia is that the Kinzhals weren’t shot down by Patriots. They were shot down manually by the Ukrainians. That’s why Putin’s having another temper tantrum. His hypersonic missiles aren’t hypersonic.

Speaking of Patriots...

The Bryansk incident (2 fighters & 3 helicopters shot down) might have involved Patriot missiles, according CNN.

I believe that Patriot missiles were involved.
