Kid was in same intelligence unit as his step dad. Hope he didn’t somehow get a hold of his clearance.
The notion that he was the sources of the leaks is absurd on its face.
This story is going to quietly disappear—after they finish framing him.
A high clearance does not give anyone access to a whole bunch of compartmentalized information.
Low level folks may have a lot of access in their narrow specialty but beyond that they have no more access than the average civilian.
This person is probably right about these leaks. Experince speaks.
And don’t bother with the personal attacks on him until you read it FReinds.
Yes, E-1’s and above can get access. Unlike years ago, the clearance investigations changed. All TS clearance investigations are conducted as SSBI (Single Scope Background Investigations) and all TS clearances are eligible to be read into SCI information. The airmen in my unit have access because of the jobs we do. In the DoD today, “need to know” has been replaced with “information sharing” meaning access for everyone (as long as you’re read in).
You’re mixing up “how it is supposed to be” and “how it is in practice”.
Private Bradley Manning somehow had access to a huge drove of secret documents where the “need to know” wasn’t even close.
Reality Winner was just a translator and somehow could request secret documents.
There are over 1.2 million (!) TS clearance holders in the US right now and both the vetting process and access control are faulty beyond belief.
I was just going to say, “We all got played”. Never bought into the lies on the whole Ukraine - Russia fiasco/tragedy, but many have or did. I just hope this kid isn’t another of the millions of poor victims of the insane Neocon criminals running this sorry production.
Heard on the radio this morning that it’s not clear if he had clearance or if he did, what his clearance is. Rep Waltz hinted that he may have gotten the docs because he had computer access and he breached the firewall.
“Photo at DM of his step dad. 34 years in Air Force, a NCO, but not familiar with chevrons but he has lots of strips. His MOS is also intelligence.”
If it’s the same picture I saw...he’s a Master Sergeant (E-7). Two more grades above him (Senior and Chief Master Sergeant).
Selling American energy to Europe creates good jobs here. Increasing energy costs for Europe makes European businesses less competitive and creates jobs here. Decreasing Russia’s economic capacity gives them less resources available to partner with Democrats on their long established Anti America agenda. That is how you MAGA.
“Selling American energy to Europe creates good jobs here.”
Not while destroying energy in the US.
“Increasing energy costs for Europe makes European businesses less competitive and creates jobs here.”
Not while liberal policies import foreigners to do those jobs; Indians, Chinese, Russians, Mexicans, etc.
This guy is being treated like he had a private, unsecured email server populated with all kinds of classified goodies and State secrets.
Oh, wait...
Used to be he’d get 10 years and fined $10K (back when $10K was a lot of money). Hope those penalties have increased dramatically, but seen what Snowjob and Winner got, not holding breath.
An 18 year old who scores a measly 35 on the ASVAB can become a Air Force Security Police specialist, which is a 9 week training course. That same SP then is assigned to an NSA/NRO base and receives a full TS/SCI briefing on all things about the intelligence spacecraft, spying capabilities, mission, operations, personnel, etc. of that facility. No need to know, just told all that in case they run into it and should know to keep it secret. They are also often entertained with current operational information as they move about the faciilty.
Wanna know the biggest leak? Go to the SP barracks on any AF base. You’ll know everything within hours, not to mention get the best pot around. SP barracks were known as the biggest pot smokers.
It is stunning how government/military gives everyone information that should not have.
And you’re telling me E3’s now have higher security clearances than commissioned officers? This strains credulity

TS/SCI security clearances are and have been granted to people with the need to know his age since forever. What’s missing is the rigorous background checks people used to get that weeded most of these idiots out.
Used to be the FBI, but they’ve moved on to more ‘important’ jobs. Now just some contractors who make phone calls and tick boxes and presto-chango, a newly minted TS/SCI security clearances.
I think most of this started under B. Clinton, where I was told such clearances done by calling a phone number given by the applicant, and the respondent answering the question correctly. No other verification were made, even to whom the number was actually listed under.
Keep in mind that some of the ‘lies’ can well be disinformation for Russian consumption.
Both deserve to rot, but when I just used Winner as a measuring stick I came up with 20 years here. Winner deserved jail for this one silly document and this guy posted over a hundred 100 TS in the internet.
Conservatives can’t multi task? So weak.
