“‘We share your pain’: Putin meets with mothers of Russian soldiers”
“President Vladimir Putin met on Friday with the mothers of Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine, telling them that he and his country shared their pain.
Sitting with the group of women around a table with tea and cake, Putin said he understood that nothing could replace the loss of a son.
“I would like you to know that, that I personally, and the whole leadership of the country, we share your pain,” he said, according to a recorded television clip seen by Reuters.
“We understand that nothing can replace the loss of a son — especially for a mother. We share this pain,” he added.
The clip did not immediately show the mothers’ response to Putin’s comments.
Hundreds of thousands of Russian soldiers have been sent to fight in Ukraine this year, including around 300,000 reservists who were called up in September in a “partial” mobilization.”

“1/ In what may be a bizarre case of mistaken identity, the Russian FSB has killed a group of Russian people it claims are pro-Ukrainian saboteurs – but who reportedly appear to be Airsoft enthusiasts who were engaged in live-action roleplay of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. video games.
2/ The Russian media reported on 23 November that the FSB had killed three people in Voronezh who it claimed were members of a “conspiratorial cell of supporters of Ukrainian nationalist ideology.” They died during an attempt to “extract the means of terror” from a location.
3/ It’s not clear what the three men were supposedly planning. But according to the Moscow Times, two of the three were well-known participants in the Voronezh airsoft community. One used the nickname Stalker Phosgene for live-action roleplay based on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games.
4/ The FSB showed off a banner with an emblem in the form of a green wolf’s head in profile and the inscription “Воля” (”Will”). It was highlighted on Russian state TV with the claim that it was the “flag of the far-right [Ukrainian] nationalist party Volya”.
5/ In fact, as the Moscow Times points out, it’s a symbol from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, where it’s used by a faction of Stalkers called Svoboda (Freedom).
6/ The Ukrainian political party Volya has a completely different logo.
7/ This isn’t the first time the FSB appears to have got confused by video games: in April, it apparently confused three SIM cards with the game The Sims 3. /end”

“This little video is truly incredible. I recommend everybody watch it several times, to let it sink in. It says so much about why Russia is losing this war. A short thread.
It shows a Ukrainian drone dropping a small grenade on a group of 11 Russian soldiers huddled sleeping in a (weakly) defensive dug-out pit, on the front line east of Bakhmut. What’s amazing to watch is how sluggishly - if at all - the men react.
One man starts to get on his legs, but he merely shoves his way through other groggy men a few feet further from where the grenade hit and settles back to sleep. No one tries to change their overall situation before the next grenade hits. Three of the men don’t move at all.
These men are suffering from moderate to severe hypothermia, when the body stops shivering and the mind goes into a stupor or even shuts down. They were probably laying huddled all night without proper clothing or bags. Night temperatures have been in the mid-high 30s F / 0-4 C
They’re surely also sleep deprived. But above all, they’re hopeless men in a hopeless situation. Whether convicts roped into a paramilitary force or recent conscripts to the regular army, these men have given complete control of their fates to people who treat them like garbage.
They have presumably been ordered to hold their position, and threatened with punishment or even execution if they fail. Yet they haven’t been given the goods or training to stay warm.
Their situation can’t be compared to the Soviet “cannon fodder” who charged at the Nazis, hopelessly for themselves but realistically making some small contribution to victory.
Today’s Russian soldiers die like blind worms in a pit out of their commanders’ sheer incompetence and their own failure to take responsibility for their own fates, achieving absolutely nothing. And it’s going to get a lot colder.”

Utter hopelessness. It would actually be the humane thing to do the normal military move and finish the lot off straight away.
Good thing that that Ukrainians are willing to live without heat or electricity for 2 to 3 years...... Somehow that does NOT feel like winning.

On the face of it you list is bogus...how can russia lose 10 times more tanks than Ukraine(1505 to 153)...yet Ukraine have not taken more territory than Russia? does that make sense? What as become of this place?
Ah, well, that pontoon-fashioned bridge did appear quite “reliable” there supporting the tanks’ crossing.
Electricity will not win or lose the war.
