I could never give old Ben a fair listen. Way back in 99 or 2000, I used to listen to Lee Rodgers and Melanie Morgan on KSFO via the internet. Every once in awhile a guy would call in and the hosts would just gush for 10 minutes about how smart the caller was. It happened enough that I remember the guy’s name and it was Ben Shapiro. I don’t recall how I learned his actual name - I think the hosts meet him at some political function, or other; but he was still in college at the time. Yeah, the kid was smart, but get back to the issues! C’mon, man!

G. Gordon, I remember on a crime show, he played a murdering talk show host. I was young, but that was when I knew Hollywood was against conservatives.

I agree. Bannon's War Room is the best. He also has the best regular guests on as well, especially Peter Navarro.
War Room is "can't miss" programming. He's always on the cutting edge.

I was lucky to live in southern New Hampshire from the late 50s until 2015. I got to hear Jerry Williams, Jean Burns, Rush Limbaugh, and Howie Carr when all of them were in their prime. What a treat it was.
None of the current crop of national hosts are as exceptional. There are some good local people, but nobody with the wit and intellect of that group. Howie is the last of the breed, but he has gone downhill since his feud with WRKO.
Funny. And accurate.
Paul Harvey was a master of the radio like Rush was. He could pack more into 15 minutes of airtime than anyone who has ever lived.
Here in SoCal we also had George Putnam.
Rush had that ‘golden EIB microphone.’
My reference in the post to ‘no filter’ is legit. Bongino talked about it last week. He says he refuses to use a bass filter because he became successful without it... so he thinks it might be bad luck. If you are listening with HQ speakers, it’s not much of a problem but if you are listening over an inbuilt computer speaker or other lower-end quality speaker, it can sound like a rumble. Rush would have never tolerated that kind of quality.
He has repeatedly stated that he agrees with you. He has even said that he would rather be listening to Rush than doing his own show. I have problems with Bongino too, but he has been modest and gracious when talking about Rush.
Even some of the leftist hosts were better in the technical sense, like Ray Talifero out of KGO San Francisco.
True. He is always pointing out that he compares poorly with Rush and accepts that. I think the thing that annoys me the most is when he goes into this: ‘liberals can’t handle this, they’re all crying in the their mommies basement needing their diapers changed ‘ shtick. Actually no Dan, they’re not. They’re heading the FBI, lecturing on college campuses, recruiting for the armed forces, making movies in Hollywood, also they’re going over the contract of the next person to be hosting this time slot... I have no problem bashing the left, just want to be clear about who “they” are.
I enjoy Shapiro's rapid speech. It means I almost never have to tell the radio to GET TO THE DAMN POINT.
Who is author “self” ?
Rush was a student of his chosen profession of broadcaster. He started as a DJ and I suspect that he learned the same techniques that KHJ in Los Angeles employed. He started during the same era.
He took technique as seriously as he did content. A lot of it was second nature to him by the time he began doing politics in 1988. He also had innate sense for humor.
I don’t think that any of these other talkers are even aware that there are radio skills that they could learn to make their shows more interesting to the listener. They think it’s all about content. Rush knew better.

WOHT in Philadelphia just moved their excellent morning host Rich Zeoli ti afternoons. They gave the morning slot to some sports radio guy moving to conservative talk.
It’s only been a couple weeks but from the few hours I’ve listened, he veers way into deep sports talk way too much. Not impressed.
It’s almost like these talkers don’t remember these sports organizations stuck a knife in our backs hardly two years ago now? To be honest though, that also annoyed me about Rush. Also to be honest, Dan Bongino and Jessie Kelly both remember, especially Kelly.
