War in Ukraine
1 hour ago (edited)
UPDATE: Ukrainian offensive in Kharkiv region (Balakliya-Izyum-Kupyansk): September 9 2022, Day 3.

- Ukrainian troops are clearing up Kupyansk. Per unconfirmed information, Russian troops blew up the bridge and evacuated to the eastern bank of Oskil river.

- No Russian counter-offensive has materialized so far; every hour counts now, the chance of total Ukrainian success is growing with every hour - phase 2 - defending gains achieved so far.

- It looks like Russian command does not have any meaningful reserves that it can throw into the fight, very similar with the German encirclement in Stalingrad in November 1942.

- It looks more and more like disorderly collapse on the Russian side.

- The most dangerous situation for Russian troops is near Senkove - if Ukrainian troops are spreading on the eastern bank of the Oskil river (we don't have confirmation), this will be complete encirclement and disaster.

- Effectively, inner and outer rings of the encirclement are being created now by Ukrainian troops.

"Colonel General Andrei Sychevoi captured?"

Former Navy Seal Chuck Pfarrer (https://twitter.com/ChuckPfarrer ), whom I used to follow during the War against ISIS, is also reporting his capture:

Highest ranking Russian POW since WWII. 3 Star. Commanding General of that front.

The difference you note are just pixelations in both images - its the same guy; its Andrei! - the mole is where it should be, and the coloration in both images is just an artifact of the camera in how it takes images - ears and skull shape as well as feature placement are the same.

“Colonel General Andrei Sychevoi captured?”

I stand corrected then.

Sounds like he needs to be completely interrogated.

Yes, indeed. It’s so bad for the Russians. Ukraine headed for Moscow in a few days too. Bet.

Ukraine has no intentions on Russia. They're trying to expel an invader, not conquer a neighbor.

Would you like to bet whether Russia holds Kherson on Christmas Day?

“Ukrainian forces have liberated the town of Oleksandrivka above Izyum.

49.4641667, 37.2600000

This was confirmed by geolocated footage of Ukrainian forces driving through the town.”

"Say, whatever happened to Kherson?"

Putin was suckered into sending his best units down there (VDV, Spetsnaz, Guards), to the worst possible place in the whole Country, where they were absolutely the furthest possible from resupply. Now their retreat and resupply is cut off, and Winter is coming, for which they are not equipped. Ukrainian forces have local Artillery and air superiority there, and are flying dozens of sorties per day against those trapped forces. There is no hurry needed, because those doomed units can be picked off at leisure, like shooting fish in a barrel.

“Maybe this awful war will finally come to an end!!!”

I hope you are right.

Ukraine’s success means they may demand pre-2014 borders. That brings up the issue of Donbass and Crimea.

A potential agreement is for Ukraine to give up Crimea and Ukraine to seize all the Donbass.

Ukraine will demand right to join NATO and EU. Ukraine’s training and arms are increasingly NATO standard. They will eventually join NATO.

Must watch video. RuZZians falling off and tank crashes.

“Amazing video of a Russian T-72 fleeing Ukrainian troops, discarding men and then crashing into a tree.”

The Ukrainian advances have already put Kupyansk in long distance artillery range. Soon it will be in short distance artillery range, and useless for transporting supplies to the Russians near Izyum.

And then Putin's army in the northern part of the Donbass will be in a very challenging position.

Crimea includes a lot of offshore gas and oil deposits, that could be connected to European pipelines relatively quickly and efficiently - perhaps the main reason that Putin invaded in 2014.

Now that the West is sinking a collective trillion dollars or so on this conflict, they will likely be more interested in a settlement that sets favorable conditions for them in the future - i.e. those deposits within the borders of the EU and NATO.

I don’t think anyone wants to see Russia get to keep Crimea because that still rewards them for waging this war. If one of my kids steals a dozen donuts I don’t let them hand back ten of them and keep the other two.

end outcome of the Battle of the Bulge..

If I recall my history classes correctly the invading armies of Germany got defeated, and Hitler committed suicide.

So your analogy would suggest the Russian army gets defeated in Ukraine and Putin ends up dead.

My analogy suggests far more than the gimmick you attempting to pull.

Try again?

Little Pukin is in a difficult position. While he started the war, Ukraine gets to decide when it ends.

RuZZia could announce they are pulling back to pre-Feb 24th lines, but Ukraine will still attack. So even withdrawing to Feb 24th lines won’t end the war.

RuZZia has no choice but to negotiate with Ukraine to end the war. Ukraine will drive a hard bargain, to include all the Donbas and right to join EU/NATO.

The Ukraine position on Crimea will be interesting - as well as the issue of war reparations.
