I raced the short tracks (dirt & pavement) in SE Wisconsin 1986 - 2011. There were over 35 oval tracks in the state that ran every week when I started. When I was a youngster and spectator in the late 60’s, the modified drivers would race 4 nights a week.

Tracks mostly fell victim to urban sprawl. In addition, the love affair with the car has been fading. When we were kids you stood in line at the DMV on the morning of your 16th birthday. It didn’t help the sort tracks when NASCAR started televising on Saturday nights either.

I think there’s more than one but it won’t be me.
