If Russia can subdue Ukraine because it’s a “hostile, enemy” territory on its border, what will happen when it actually has NATO countries on its border? Ukraine was far from actually joining NATO.

I don't think a "slip", which implies some inadvertent mistake, is all it would take to start direct hostilities with NATO. An accidental, isolated incident is something that both sides would want to minimize.

At the least, the idea that expansion of the war is inevitable, or just a matter of time, is a big exaggeration.

The smartest thing he could do at this point is declare victory by claiming he has defeated the “Ukrainian military threat”, pull back to those areas, and then negotiate. The rest of the world will know he lost in Ukraine, but that might be enough for public consumption within Russia.
***Yup, that would be the smart thing for him to do, and he is a smart man. But his dander is up, and that’s what turns a smart man into a dumb man.

We differ and I hope you are the one who is right.

My vote is one of no confidence in the players at the top of the heap. If there is arbitration, it will probably be someone in Europe who manages it and is the sane adult. I just have a hard time seeing who that is.

If Russia was so all-fired worried about nukes in Ukraine, why did they leave so many behind that there needed to be a signed agreement on them?

We went to war with Germany because Germany declared war against US.

very true. But the people to blame start with the ‘Greatest Generation’, who were too busy with their own lives to bother seeing what was happening to their kids.

Too bad grandpa didn't spare the rod with you.

Russia is in over its head. The only way out for Putin is to win in Ukraine. But then again failure and a war with the United States is their worst nightmare.

Putin is likely not very worried about how this is going to turn out. His only worry may be that Biden is obviously not calling the shots and they may not be sure who is.

The Russians were out of Afghanistan before Putin became Russia's leader. And in fact, this failure was one of the factors that put him into power. Putin has never lost a “war” or “incursion” or whatever you want to call this latest action in Ukraine. Putin and his generals are known for precise planning and the all the outrageous propaganda that is resulting from this conflict isn't likely to have much of an effect.

What is going to happen always been a foregone conclusion. The Russians are going to change the current corrupt regime in the Ukraine. Things got pushed far further than most would have thought the Russians would ever have let them go. Our own "defense department" was funding a dozen bio-labs in Ukraine for God's sake. Why because the current regime would allow anything if enough coin rolled into their pockets.

Look at Hunter Biden for another type of example. Anyone who had any perceived influence was eligible to receive $$$ millions to channel more $$$ millions to the corrupt regime's people. We have given the regime we helped put in power $$$ 1.5 Billion above the table since 2014 and $$$ Billions more in secret arrangements like the "bio-labs". It has been nothing short of astounding. The “west” is going to scream and cry and accuse the Russians of every form of evil to protect the regime that they installed. Look at the sheer volume of already disproved nonsense. It is enough to make even a hardenned vax pusher blush. But this is not likely to change the outcome. The only wild card is that Zelenskyy is holed up somewhere in Poland pretending to be sticking around longer than expected to try and get his greedy little paws on more of the $$$ 13.6 Billion that he now knows is heading his direction... along with $$$ Billions more from other countries/marks.

This is all about money and that is about it.

Reminds me of the song “Wooden Ships”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Q3j-i7GLr0

Wooden Ships
Song by Crosby, Stills & Nash

Lyrics
If you smile at me, I will understand
‘Cause that is something
Everybody everywhere does in the same language
I can see by your coat, my friend
You’re from the other side
There’s just one thing I got to know
Can you tell me please, who won?
Say, can I have some of your purple berries?
Yes, I’ve been eating them for six or seven weeks now
Haven’t got sick once
Probably keep us both alive
Wooden ships on the water, very free and easy
Easy, you know the way it’s supposed to be
Silver people on the shoreline, let us be
Talkin’ ‘bout very free and easy
Horror grips us as we watch you die
All we can do is echo your anguished cries
Stare as all human feelings die
We are leaving, you don’t need us
Go, take your sister then, by the hand
Lead her away from this foreign land
Far away, where we might laugh again
We are leaving, you don’t need us
And it’s a fair wind blowin’ warm
Out of the south over my shoulder
I guess I’ll set a course and go

Putin probably doesn’t want NATO controlling them.

Helping Ukrainians to stop Russian invaders from massacring their civilians is not pointing a loaded gun at Russia’s head.

Well, speaking of Iraq since I participated in that one for years it was at first regime change. Then the State Department got it’s claws in and decided to do nation building. Same thing with Afgn. Once State takes over rejection and failure are assured. They are run by foreign interests, not America’s. Most likely KGB whom I saw in Iraq at airports when they had to show their passports. Always in a 3-man team. They looked like bums, so authentic KGB.

And the blob is afraid, because the process of actual Americans, the people who only have one passport, are becoming aware EVEN THOUGH the censorship regime would have made Stalin proud.

His only worry may be that Biden is obviously not calling the shots and they may not be sure who is

That's a plot element in one of the Tom Clancy books - except it was us not knowing who in the Kremlin was sending the Red Phone messages.

Having a nonfunctional man pretending to be President and a State Department run by the grandchildren of Ukrainian and Polish Jews is a wild card in this mess, and I'm sure decoding the opaque US command structure is a great concern for the Russians.

They are hardly even using their own AF, why send them more Russian targets? If Russia gets serious about air supremacy, the UAF won’t make it past tree tops on take off, assuming the Russians have not cratered the runways. The S-400 Trimf systems can see out 400km

a couple of B2 bomber strikes from complete destruction

That only works if All Russian AAAD is taken out by missiles. And that starts WWIII before the B-2s even take off from the US, and it would be a lot more strikes than a ‘couple’.

The problem continues to be that the “useful fools” excusing and defending Russia still believes that Russia is “just like us”.

While Russians may look like us, their values of human life are Oriental.

Hence, they couldn’t care less about civilian lives.

I don’t think they have any runways left unless some have been repaired. Landing in muddy fields would not be helpful.
