It’s the Laurel Canyon revolt of 2022.
When Muzak pulls it’s music, I’m slicing my wrists.
I feel the same way. I grew up with a lot of Lefty music...still listen to it. “Court & Spark” was/is one of my favorites. Heck...I was in the Navy when Jane Fonda humped a VC anti-aircraft gun...and I still eventually watched “On Golden Pond”.
And they doing this why?

Over inflated ego and sense of self worth?
Joni Mitchell has overcome a number of health battles in her life, including polio as a child. It was her polio that weakened her left hand and affected her ability to play a guitar. This did not stop her. Open tuning simply allowed her to form the chord shapes she couldn’t have played otherwise and this caused her to create magic with her playing.
In 2015 she suffered a brain aneurysm In 1996, that left her temporarily unable to walk or talk. Also, she was diagnosed with Morgellons disease, which is a horrible skin disease.
Joni Mitchell is the recipient of Billboard’s prestigious Century Award for “distinguished creative achievement” in 1995, she was awarded the Polar Music Prize and in 1997 she was inducted into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

It’s interesting she wasn’t nominated for ‘Blue?’ That and ‘Court and Spark’ are probably my favorite by her but also love ‘Clouds’ and ‘Hijera.’
Court & Spark is a great album, as are many of her catalog.
I’m not a trained musician, but I listen closely when I like something. I was always impressed with Joni’s three or four part harmonies that she did all by herself with vocal overlays. Mariah Carey’s early work shows the same skill.
That’s a lot of singing and production work. A lot of what seems to be spontaneous calculation in order to create the effect of a tailored sound.
He died about a week ago
Chrissie Hynde ‘My City was gone’ the Rush Limbaugh theme song had a similar problem according to Rush.
She was no fan of mine. You know, Chrissie is a big feminist and animal rights wacko and all that, but she had no clue that the song had been denied usage and she’s telling Scott Shannon that her parents love my show. So in the end, we played tape of that ’cause the EMI people had told us that Chrissie wanted no part of me using the song. Well, here she is saying she didn’t care. She told Scott Shannon of PLJ that she didn’t care and her parents were fans so we got that tape, that audio; we played it for the EMI people, and the song came back to the program. We pay an annual fee — which is fair, proper — for usage.
Of course if you read the story told by liberal writers it is different meant to cause division.
At least I don't think that we need to worry about Ted Nugent pulling 'Journey to the Center of the Mind'.
Neither Spotify nor its subscribers care.
I love everthing she does, even in her later years. I am sure the music world recognizes her work even though the FReepers on this thread give me the jeepers. I think Joni Mitchell may stand as the most important and influential female recording artist of the late 20th century.
Joni Who?
Who cares. These two are making themselves even more irrelevant than they already are. But to people who don’t even know them. Joe Rogan is way more profitable for Spotify and way more relevant and popular to the young as well as the older crowd.
lolololol!!
Next to pull out of Spotify: Anne Murray and Judy Collins!
so all the nanny state anti-first amendment creeps are outing themselves- good- now we know who not to listen to-
Ah, yes, Joni’s famous song “Big Yellow Turd (er, Taxi)”.
Bye.
