I should add Hospice has added to their program , they now help in nursing homes, hospitals and homes for those that may need long term care..not just end of life ..talk to the hospital social worker, she is your connection
I have been told that after a stroke, the undamaged parts of the brain can pick up the functions that got lost by the stroke. That is what rehabilitation will work on.
My prayers for a complete healing and recovery for your father.
Prayers lifting, for strength and guidance.
Heavenly Father, please hold this family close in this difficult time.
I’m so sorry, fuzzy. Your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
How awful, sorry to hear that.
When the doctors asked my mother if they had kids, and if so they should probably come, we all thought this was it and he would pass and be at peace - we’d all prepared for that. Even at the hospital registration, before I said a word, I saw a sticky note with his name saying “end of life”...I assume so the registrar would know family would be coming up. I was ok - knowing where he was going...but now this.
Thank you for your prayers.
Thank you.
This Article is an interview between doctors. One of them says "In parts of Russia, when somebody has a myocardial infarction, a heart attack or a stroke, they give them intravenous lipoic acid, and it reverses the ischaemia–reperfusion injury."
It looks like intravenous ALA is preferred. But ALA is available as an oral supplement at vitamin stores and maybe large drug stores. Orally, I would want to take 600mg 3 or more times per day.
Prayers for you all.
Prayers for your Dad and your family, and for you.
May The Holy Spirit give you wisdom and comfort during this very difficult time.

Your Father and your Family are ín my Prayers. May God supply the help and support you need at this time. In Jesus’ Name I Pray. Amen.
Prayers up - may God grant you and your loved ones wisdom and comfort.
Hospice does not cost anything.
Father, in the Name of Jesus, please give this family guidance to do Your will. Amen.
I’m not sure they can afford a nursing home...but honestly I know little about those options & costs. Thoughts welcome.
The cost of nursing homes will vary from State to State. In Massachusetts it is anywhere from $8,000/month to $12,000/month. You get billed monthly from the nursing home. That is about $96,000-$144,000 per Year. An experienced elder services lawyer that knows your state laws can knock that monthly bill way down depending on your income.
It will take months dealing with Fed and State health organizations, Insurance companies, State and Federal rules , wills, and property deeds, State Power of Attorney, and Representative Payee for the Feds who will not honor any States Power of Attn..
Above is just off the top of my head it is not to discourage you but to encourage you to get some outside help if a nursing home gets involved. Every state law is different and a knowledgeable attorney should know how to handle the situation in your State. It will cost some money but it will save someone thousands of dollars per month, and be worth it.-Tom
Thank you for the detailed information.
Greatly appreciated.
There is a lot of information on the Web. One place to do some research is at:
