Obeying orders and turning around with no weapon, hands up - that's justified to you? Clear video shows at the 2:04.5 mark the empty right hand illuminated by the flashlight.
Factors not apparent in the video: Why was he racing to the scene, why was the kid running, and what was the call from the dispatcher that put him at the scene?
I do not blame the cop on this one, but it seems tragic nonetheless, unless the kid had a weapon earlier. The city will burn either way.
To prevent future similar incidents, maybe police AND the public both need to be trained on how to do the "show me your hands" order... maybe something like "EXTREMELY SLOWLY, show me your hands, or else I will fire!!"
As an overly energetic and "Raised Right" kid myself, I'd likely obey every police command quickly and suddenly, to be a Good Boy... and I'd probably look a lot like the kid here (although I would never have run in the first place).
Always in cities where there isn’t a Republican to be found.
Does anyone know a photo host that works with Free Republic. I’ve screenshotted the moment where I believe the gun is reasonably visible in the right hand. It’s at 02:38:39. I would upload it, but have no idea how.
In first vid, gun visible on ground at 5:34.
Kid ran to break in fence to toss it on other side.
When turned to cop as raising hands, he gets shot.
Do some fast play/pause button hits around the 2:00 mark.
I can understand why cop thought kid was turning to shoot.
Holy Toledo!
This is not good.
It’s Chicago, who cares.
is it just me or can you hear the officer kicking away the gun at the 2:10 mark?
