I see no reason video taping unless you’re one of those curious cats. Bennett videotapes not because “he’s a rooting tooting salutin’ citizen”.

BS. He was just there to find any action so he can upload on Youtube, and or get his 10 minutes of fame. I’m in Hollywood and I see this crap everyday.

Why would I record and waste my time? I have better things to do and in Kentucky, there’s obviously nothing to do.

I agree. This doesn’t pass the smell test. Seems highly scripted to me.

Photographing/filming police in the performance of their public duty is a First Amendment right.

It appears, the officer should be fired, then prosecuted for assault.

All the talk of the videographer being involved smells of coverup after the fact.

Sounds like a very good lawsuit for violation of rights under cover of law.

Joe Bennett (or his lawyer) will soon be rich at the city’s expense.

The guy was obviously a biden voting social justice warrior and was antagonizing the police while they were doing their job. But this does not excuse the police. I believe they acted inappropriately. They should have ignored him.

You DON’T have to provide “ID” (papers please). You may have to “identify” yourself. Especially if you want to avoid a temporary trip to jail.

This is well established law and a complete violation of his 1A rights.

You can record anything you see in public, including police doing their jobs and arresting people. You just can’t interfere.

You are not required to show ID unless the officer suspects you of a crime. Then he went from zero to thug in about 2 seconds and illegally assaulted the man.

This police officer has no business being a cop.

“Unless he was suspected of being the driver in the criminal activity which was the case.”

Or, that was a line of BS the officers threw out to cover themselves for their illegal act. Let’s see their bodycam.

You can smell the steroids pulsating from this guy as he is approaching. He’s already pumped up, primed and ready to strike.

He took extra classes on how to do everything WRONG.

Thats not at all how you would approach someone suspected of being the getaway driver in a string of felonies. Especially when you have 4 or 5 other cruisers there and they wants get some punches in too......

And out come all of the ‘back the blue’ propagandists who think what these policemen did is completely ok. It is not.

Oh, there's plenty of reasons, especially in Kentucky. Much of it stems from the shooting of Breonna Taylor and how the cops "conveniently" turned off their vest cams and covered it up with fraudulent police reports and then got the DA to protect all their arses by saying the only different witness statement was the right one to not prosecute.

He's also got the right and, to some, obligation to witness what happens with cops arresting people. This might be the most boring recording ever streamed was quoted in it before the cop assaulted the witness recording the interaction.

Maybe your bias being in the belly of the beast has you thinking everyone is the lowest form of life, by wanting their 30 seconds of "fame" but it might also be a recording that touches off a whole summer of destruction and riots when the cops decide to get itchy trigger fingers or violate the rights of someone who is dying by hastening it because they're a walking jackboot... but maybe you should go back to watching the Kardashians and not slagging on those who do look out for their fellow man, even if that means they get 15 minutes of fame.

****

when you wrote this, did you kneel at the anthem and start burning cars or write your anti-cop manifesto? Man, it’s like Bennett is the second coming of Christ to you and needs to be elevated to sainthood.
