Its a garbage number.
Look Trump will do far better with black voter this time than he did in 16, where he underperformed the GOP average getting only 8% of their vote.
However hes not going to get 30%. This is garbage.
Look, when they poll 600 people and say 60 of them are Black and you find 20 of those 60 say they plan to vote Trump.
That shows a 33% support for Trump among that sample... however that sample size is so small it has a huge margin of error..
The Latino vote is even bigger and his percent there is also climbing. I think that is even a bigger factor.
Blacks were told in 2016 Trump was a racist, they’ve had four years now to discover it wasn’t true.
A guy breaks up with his girlfriend. She says, "You'll never find another woman like me." He responds, "That's kinda the point."
Democrat party, "If you leave, you'll never be allowed back." Black voters, "That's kinda the point."
Will you be here all week? LOL!
31% makes is sound like a landslide compared to what that thread I read said.
A few reasons why I think this could be true:
1) ZERO enthusiasm for Kamala within Black community.... she’s every bit as Black as Obama was, and maybe that’s the problem....Obama was not authentically African American...was raised by White mother and grandparents.... And what’s the biggest complaint about Obama from Blacks?....”he did more for Gays and illegal immigrants than he did for us”.....Kamala is also not authentically AA, and was raised by her Indian mother, so they are wary of her.....I think this is a big reason why we’re not seeing Blacks wearing Kamala shirts and hats......back in the day, the TV show Touched By An Angel had very high Black viewership, even though the star was a White woman...why? because the co-star, Della Reese was Black....but it doesn’t look like Biden’s co-star is getting the same treatment
2) Blacks see that Trump is sincerely trying to win them over, PLUS Blacks are very into conspiracy theories.....I think a lot of Blacks are suspicious about COVID being an election year bio weapon, as well as how Big Tech, the media, and Democrats have ganged up on Trump with overheated rhetoric and endless talk about White supremacists.....a lot of Blacks may finally be ready to own up to how they’ve been used and abused by the Dems for so long
3) I think Candace Owens is making a impact....not only is she smart and fearless, she’s also young and attractive....and that’s important.....I would assume that Owens was an inspiration for Kim Klacik....Owen’s visibility amongst Blacks is higher than the media wants you to believe
We’ll see... we had that “Blexit” narrative teased out back in 2018, but the GOP still received <10% of the black vote.
I think he missed an opportunity with black women. If he had highlighted school choice more, he would have gotten more black female support.
In the early 1990s, I worked with a black lady at USMEPCOM in North Chicago... she was really nice, very connected to her church, and rock-solid conservative values. She detested the very idea of homosexuals having access to joining the military (a big issue then), despised abortion, etc.
Yet in the 1992 election, she voted for Bill Clinton. When I asked her what motivated her to do so, despite her conservative ideals, she responded, “It’s just what we blacks do. We vote for democrats.”
THAT is the hurdle that must be overcome.
Mid-term elections are apples and oranges.
Turnout is very low in midterms compared to Presidential years, and folks who are not that interested in politics just couldn’t care less about mid-terms.
If that’s even close to being true no wonder Biden is dragging Obama out of his mansion, sweating like a hog, to campaign for him, now it makes sense
The real concern is white women.
I agree - I think a most maybe 12% will actually vote for Trump - but if another 5% stay home - who would normally have voted for the Democrat - that will do the trick.
From the posted article..........
In the last ten presidential election cycles the highest black vote share for a Republican was 12% for Bob Dole in 1996. Trump has 14.6% of the black vote in todays LA Times poll.
If the LA Times is admitting 14.6% of the black vote for Trump.... IT’S HIGHER THAN THAT.
If true, this will NOT be close.
We were told repeatedly that black support for the GOP was rising into the 30% range. Yes, the turnout for the midterms is lower, but the proportion didn't budge from previous elections. Hopefully this will ring more true.
That was my first thought as well. If he gets 31%, Biden is toast. I know that there have been reports that Trump is doing well with the black community; but, that would be really, really well.
Republicans have a long way to go to increase the quality of their Congressional candidates.
