I like the term "progressive model of proportional representation" (later in the article) from VDH, it should be applied everywhere then. But we've only have loud-mouthed and passionate minority few demand they represent the view of all others and dictate terms that they will only accept, which encapsulates our current political and societal dynamics.

I haven't watched any NFL game since the spread of kneeling during national anthem (i.e. 2016), no league (commish, owners, personnel) action nor player action have enticed me back to support them (either by watching them in person or on tv; or buying any kind of paraphernalia related to the sport). I want to say ditto to NBA or women NBA but I don't watch them in the first place.

Once this capitulation spread to all professional and collegiate sports, I am down to playing old video games all time then (since I haven't watched any movie in theater for >2 decades).

Then game attendance fell. So did television viewership. Apparently, lots of fans had no desire to spend their Sundays watching 20-something multimillionaires lecture them that the American flag was not worth honoring.

Also the game has become less and less viewable. More stops of play, more replays, more official reviews, more sideline interviews, more flashy graphics and animated robotic football players and more pointless shots of the coaching staff and sidelines. I'm surprised they have time to show the play as it occurs. I watched a replay of Super Bowl from the 1980s. Although I missed high def, with fewer replays and fewer cameras it was a better game.

Anymore, when I do watch a football game I usually DVR it and start and hour or two into the game and finish about the same time the game ends. I can skip the commercials and endless replays. If I want to see a play again I can rewind.

I’m a die-hard Vikings fan. I bleed purple. However, when the kneeling started I stopped watching. That continued for two years, and then last year it seemed the NFL had moved past that. Now, it looks like they’ll be welcoming the kneeling back. If the NFL/MLB/NHL/NBA kneel, I walk. Period.

I think I may have watched one playoff game last year. I used to watch two games each Sunday.

This should be a time of self-congratulation for the brutal sport, which has no similar counterpart outside the United States.

What about the CFL? The game where when a player is tackled near the sidelines he is aboat oat of boands.

I like their restrictions on timeouts, players being out for three plays after an injury so there are fewer players falling down to stop the clock, running up to line before the hike, and a full yard between the offense and defense which makes pure size less important on the line.

The golden guy of the moment Patrick Mahomes, who is half black with a privileged upbringing, has chosen to go all woke. I think it's partly because he hangs with his TE Travis Kelce who has a woke black girlfriend.

On the brink, eh?

THE NFL HATES AMERICA, AND WOULD PISS ON EVERY AMERICAN IF THEY COULD!

and kaepernick is and will remain a "marginal" player in perpetuity

I guess VDH has never watched rugby.

As someone who had a very undistinguished Rugby career I might take a small exception to that statement Rugby Hits

Young boys and young men are no longer interested in football as we were.

Another coffin nail.

I lost interest and stopped watching the NFL about 15-20 years ago.

I hate to break it to the NFL, but this isn’t about the players. Or the owners.

It’s about the people who watch it.

And there aren’t enough lefty fans of any and all skin colors to keep the NFL, as its currently constituted, financially afloat.

Looks like the owners and players are about to learn that the hard way.

I think the NFL is going to find a VERY unpleasant surprise as viewers tune out in a big way. Viewership could be down as much as 30%, which could cause advertisers to force the NFL to do extremely expensive "make goods" on advertising, costing the league billions in revenue.
