I have not seen that statement from the government. I saw that statement in e-mails sent by Flynn’s lawyer which were part of the disclosed documents. I forget the exact words, but in discussing plea negotiations Flynn’s lawyer said in effect “The government is explicitly NOT agreeing to withhold prosecution against Flynn’s so”.
No, not at all. Trump got the idea from speaking directly to Flynn. In a short period of time, Flynn raised the subject of sanctions with Kislyak. Shortly thereafter, Flynn affirmatively told Pence and Spicer that he had NOT discussed sanctions with Kislyak. Pence and Spicer told national audiences that Flynn did not discuss sanctions with Kislyak. Pence got information that Flynn DID discuss sanctions with Kislyak. Pence was furious.
Trump asked Flynn and Flynn, like a third grader, told Trump that Flynn did not remember what he said to Kislyak. Flynn got fired, Trump graciously called Flynn a good man (one of many instances of Trump graciousness which makes me love the man) and then, parenthetically, commented how insulting it was (and I might add, unmanly) for Flynn to lie to him with the third grader lie of “I don’t remember”
When people run these dubious gofundme requests, they ought to be obligated to show a balance sheet with every financial detail. But then few would make the requests, because the public would understand they are being scammed.
We have zero information on Flynn’s finances except for what he says. Nothing necessarily personal to Flynn, but I want to see the verified balance sheets before I give to a gofundme.
And how much exactly was Covington paid? That should be an easy one for Flynn to verify. Not at all unusual for lawyers to get stuck with unpaid fees.
The government acted as thugs, yes. That is an issue I hope Durham addresses as part of his RICO case against the slimey crew, including future unindicted co-conspirator BO.
Flynn’s behavior was a completely separate issue, and Flynn is the one who made it so, and Powell came along to exacerbate.
And this is the mistake our side is making, not seeing the two distinct issues.
I have long said, Powell cannot and should not be doing what Durham is doing. She is not a good lawyer and lacks judgment.

Yeah, whatever.
